My electrician retired and recommended E. Brian's Electric Inc. ** **** *** **** ****** ***** ***  I called them and they agreed to come to my house to perform the needed work. When the truck arrived, two people got out of the truck. The work was done to my satisfaction. I was charged for two hours to complete the job. The job entailed the installation of a thermostat in the bedroom and a new breaker in the fuse box panel, along with solving another problem with my living room heat. The bill arrived with a total of $819.59 owed. I questioned the high total. I was told that the lead electrician was paid $135/hour and his assistant was paid $100/hour. There was no reduction of rate for the second hour. I was told that there also was a flat-rate charge of $85 for the truck. If you multiply $230 and hour by 2 and add $85, you come to a total of $545. I was charged $535 for the labor. The two items, with tax, cost $284.59. Together, the sum is $819.59. You are welcome to arrive at your own conclusion.

We arrived on the job and was informed that the A/C guys did something to customers panel when they installed mini split units. 1st man was $125 hr the second man $100 hr. We were there for two hours. We charged $85 Dollars for a truck charge for driving 20 mins each way to the supply house for the part for his pool heater. We informed the customer the part was at least $190 the last time we bought one. Then we returned to the cutomer and installed parts. Tested and finished the job. No labor was charged for going to the supply house and back because there was already a $85 charge for the truck. we did not add labor on top of that . Thats how it equaled to 819.59 We aslo replaced a thermostat in bedroom to fix electric heat and tested the heating system as well and checked out panel.

This is very simple. The job was a one-man job. Discovering the cause of the problems and replacing a thermostat and a GFI circuit breaker does not call for two people, normally. In this case I can understand it somewhat because the electrician said at one point "My eyesight is going". There were several occasions that the $125/hour electrician called the $100/hour assistant over to tell him what he was looking at because he couldn't see it. If this is the case, every job they go to will be a two-person job, regardless of how simple it is. This means that the cost of labor for the first hour of every job will be $310: $125 plus $100 plus $85, plus parts. As for the truck charge of $85, I was told that it was a flat rate for the job. To try and say it was for travelling to pick up the part is false. They left the job to go to another job which was near where the part was going to be picked up. They returned with the part three hours later to finish my job. The truck rate is a flat rate and was not for travel to pick up a part.
