On In 7/15/24 at 10:47 am and 7/16/24 at 9:06 am I spoke with the same female representative at this company and discussed that my sprinkler system is inoperable. On 7/16/24 she said someone could come to my home, and at no time did she ever disclose a cost for me to receive an estimate. However, on 7/16/24 , in less than 20 minutes, the worker arrived to my home and said he believed my pump needed to be replaced , and that this replacement and installation would be approximately $1000.00., and that the owner who he identified as *** would call me about this. *** phoned , said he was the owner , and said the replacement and installation cost would be over $1000.00, when I said that the price was high, he said in an hostile , angry and unprofessional manner you will pay me a $95.00 service fee. When I said a service cost was never previously discussed with the person who scheduled my appointment neither the worker who assessed the problem, *** replied " I don't care". His worker who was present when *** called, overheard him speaking to me on the phone in this terribly hostile, angry voice., and the worker became was apologetic, and quickly left my home, In closing, had I been told there was a service fee of $95.00 I would have declined this service. This verbal exchange between *** and myself is terribly concerning and was frightening, also the improper billing he has placed on me concerns me and I alarmed that that he is improperly billing consumers like myself. His staff who scheduled my appointment had two opportunities to discuss a service fee and never did. The worker who came to my home also had an opportunity to discuss a service fee and never did. I don't believe I am responsible for a charge that I was never made aware of until I declined to allow this business to replace and install a new pump.Business response

******************* called on 7/15/24 telling us that her pump won't prime and that she was referred from her lawn company. The call was for "no prime to the pump" so we sent the guys over there on 7/16/24 to try to prime the pump and evaluate... this is considered a service call. We only give free estimates for new installs, pool revamps and new driveways. The technician was there for a 1/2 hr. and said that she needed a new pump. The tech called *** to tell him she needed a new pump.*** spoke to ******************* and told her a new 1.5 HP pump was $895.00 never did he tell her $1,000.00.. She did not want to move forward with the new pump but *** told her he was going to have to charge her $95.00 for the service call and felt that was more than fair since the tech was there for over 1/2 hr.and said that he would apply that toward the new pump.She was referred from someone in the lawn care industry that knew we would treat her fair and was made aware that she needed a new pump. If she would have said that over the phone we would have given her a price for a new pump, she said that she had no prime, if we send someone out for that we consider that a service call. Apologies if she thought *** was being "hostile" he was frustrated with the employees that they were still standing there on the job site and not moving on to the next service call.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
The representative that I contacted , on two separate occasions, my initial phone call as well as the second phone call on a different date, at no time say there would be a fee for someone to come out and provide an estimate, it was only after I rejected having the installation of the pump , the owner, not the workers who came to my home, called me and said I am going to charge you a $95 service fee after I declined his services, he was hostile, unprofessional, and angry . In the meantime, I recently paid the $95 to avoid any attempt of this owner to put a lien against my property. His behavior that he displayed the day I spoke with him lead me to believe this might be a practice of his.

She called Best of Broward Sprinklers saying that her "pump had no prime" and that she was referred from her lawn company. She did not ask if there was a charge, nor did she say she wanted an estimate, she was put on the list for a service call.We sent a tech to check her pump and confirmed that she needed a new pump. We are a service company, no service company come out for free, you have to expect to be charged a fee. *** was not angry with *******************, but with the techs that they were still standing on the job site after a 1/2 hr. She declined the replacement of the pump for $895, but he charged her $95.00 for the service call for the time the techs were there checking on the pump.. that is only fair. *** spoke to lawn guy because he knows who he is and he told *** he told her she needed a new pump from the beginning. She failed to let us know that or we would have given her a price over the phone. *** offered to apply the $95.00 towards the new pump but she declined.
