Wish I could give zero stars.Definitely a scam. You buy a vacation package that is essentially a time-share situation where you have to go and listen to a sales pitch. So you buy the package (not realizing this) then they tell you that you have 12 months to book a trip and 18 months to travel. But here's the kicker. You don't hear a peep out of them for those 12 months, then they call you (in my case three months later) to tell you that your accounts been flagged because you haven't booked. The thing is, I'd emailed them a question back in January and never got a response. So ***** (the sales lady) tells me they don't respond to emails and that you have to call. Again, this isn't printed anywhere that I saw. And I printed out all the paperwork to read over it. So she tries to tell me that because I haven't booked a trip, she has to escalate my ticket and get approval for me to pay another $199 to actually book. That's when I said, no thanks. The fact that they can't be bothered to send an automated email or call me, to let me know my year is ending, but they are perfectly happy to let the year lapse so they can try to squeeze more money out of me. Yeah...hard no.Family Dream Getaways Response

When the customer purchased the package the are advised of the time frame they have to book, in this case the customer was given 12 months to book/******** to travel. When anything is purchased it is the customers responsibility to keep up with the items purchased and any expiration dates. Saying that we are a scam because we did not send a a message to say the package does not make us a scam. The package was here for the customer to use as they wish within the active time frame, we never denied the customer use of the package.
While it is the consumers responsibility to keep up with the expiration date we understand that life happens. We have spoken to the customer and have offered her a courtesy extension of one year from the date of the complaint making the package now expire 11/19/2025. The customer has accepted this offer.

I called in to what I thought was a radio contest and answered a question. The person who answered said I won a contest and said they WERE the radio station. They asked for my CC info for taxes because of uncle ***. I questioned why they needed my CC if I had won this. They said do you think this nationally known radio station would risk their reputation for $400?. They were aggressive and pushy. I told them I was driving and couldnt give them all the info and asked them to call back. Well, I was stupid and gave them my info. I had to cancel my card. There is no airline they use, no hotels, no cruise line - because its a scam. Its complete fraud. I notified the radio station and they said they pulled the ads but this company is criminal and stealing money by lying and said they are the radio station and the caller won by answering the same dumb question of what animal, other than a bird, lays eggs?Review from Lester A

To start we would like to express our dissatisfaction with our agent and the treatment that Mr. Ackerman received and sincerely apologize for this. All of our packages are sold with an expiration date. As with anything that has an expiration date it is the consumers responsibility to keep up with those dates. In most cases and if time permits we do make a courtesy call to the consumer within 90 days or after expiration of the package letting the customer know their package is about to expire or has expired. In this case we contacted Mr.Ackerman to advise that his package has expired, he did speak with the Sales agent regarding extending is package and his options. After his refusal to extend the Sales agent did tell him we would send his account to collections. We do not under any circumstances send accounts to collects if the package expires and they do not wish to renew they simply lose the trips.
We have spoken to Mr. Ackerman and have offered as an apology a 1 year complimentary extension which he has agreed to. So at this stage we consider this case resolved.Review from Martina S

WARNING: Family Dream Getaway is not a legitimate vacation offer. After winning a radio contest, I was promised 60 vacation locations to choose from, including 2 4-night vacations and a 6-day cruis for $400 which they then later upgraded to 6 days making me believe they were being generous in reality I would have to pay for extra days rather if I stayed all of the days, and given there are no free stays available that's extra days I'd have to pay for. However, I later discovered that to use one of the vacations, I would have to pay an additional $150. The website only showed availability for the next 2 months, and when I tried to book, I found that there were no free rooms, only options priced at $2,000. When I reached out to the company, I was informed that this meant there were no free rooms available and that the only option was just that. After expressing my concerns to a representative and asking for a refund they hung up on me, and subsequent attempts to reach them were unsuccessful. It seems that this offer might be misleading and a scam. Be cautious and aware of false advertisements. Dream Getaway is nothing but a series of dream scams.Review from janelljones949

Yesterday I was listening to the radio and I won the contest for a free vacation. Well turns out it wasnt free. Before I knew it I spent about $502.01. I never got any confirmation numbers. No source for booking my vacation for the trip. When you go to the business website there really nothing there. I was scammed out of $502.01! When I reached out via email TWICE! No ever got back to me about my refund. I even setup a schedule call meet so we can discuss over the phone and no one contacted either. I cant dispute the ******** from my bank because the company is still holding onto my money. The radio show should be a shame for allowing this company to scam people!Family Dream Getaways Response

The same thing happened to me everybody. While I was doing my job at the post office delivering mail this past Monday, I heard the same thing on the radio station this past Monday about being able to win a free trip to ******* and also a free trip to a cruise. They also said that if you have scheduling issues with children, they would hold your reservation for up to 2 years. They said the first 20 callers with the correct answer of the question being: "what animal lays eggs and is not a bird?" would win these free trips. They said called this #. I called the next day early in the morning and went through the same c*** Luckily, I was doing my research to see what kind of a company this is and wanted to find out more about it before I spoke to the legal assistant to book my vacation. When I did my research, I saw all these reviews and realized that I got scammed. Luckily though, my two charges were pending and i did not get charged yet. I called the phone number on my credit card and reported this to the bank. The bank said that they would deny these two charges. So this means I will also get a new credit card. So luckily, I reported this to my bank before I got charged for this. I would have been suckered into this like you guys if I had not done my research and looked at your reviews. I am honestly not sure if this is a legit agency or company. It's very hard to find information about family vacation getaways. Scammers are getting smarter and they're finding ways to make things look more legitimate. This should be criminal for radio stations doing false advertisement scams like this one. Please stay away from this organization everybody and please do not trust the radio 100% anymore. If they ever say this again, do research first and make phone calls before getting trapped into this. If I had not caught on to this early, I would have been screwed. If they call me at all ever, I will tell him that I have no interest in them anymore. Dont trust them.Family Dream Getaways Response

The ad does not say anything about winning. The beginning of the ad clearly states this is not a contest but a paid advertisement for soliciting Sales for vacation ownership. It says that Family Dream Getaways is giving away a magical vacation to *******, *********, or ****** for just $399 to the first callers. The only time it mentions free is on the back end of the commercial where it says if you are one of the first 20 callers you get a free cruise with the package The aid package that was mentioned in the beginning. If the price is being disclosed in the beginning of the ad before a phone number is given to call how is the radio station falsely advertising or makes us a scam? We have been traveling clients on our vacation packages for years. If not we would no longer be in business.Review from Brian S

DONT DO IT!! I lost about $600 total This place ***** so bad. I paid $413 for 4 trips that I won but then they told me I have to pay extra $150 to updgrade to a closer location. They didnt upgrade me! I was in a sucky hotel. I paid an extra $150. For a hotel that shouldve been a $20 total. Then still had to pay the hotel when I got there. It was such a hassle getting my tickets and vouchers and I didnt even get the free cruise. They dont tell you till after that youll still have to pay taxes and boarding ****************** If I wouldve known that I would have just bought the cruise directly. Less headache and about the same amount of money. They literally scammed me so that every trip you still have to pay more. Then they keep calling me trying to get me to pay MORE to EXTEND my current trip times. This place is such a scam. I just lost the money. Idk how they sleep at night. Theyre also rude and unprofessional.Family Dream Getaways Response

We have have spoken to ******************** - We apologize for the inconvenience he had with his *************** trip, While we try our best to make every trip an enjoyable experience for everyone we do recognize that at times there are things that happen that are out of our control which happens to be the case with the construction happening during his visit or the change in his scheduled tour date and time. In light of this we have refunded him the reservation processing fees paid to us for ***************,We did explain the one thing that is out of our control as well as just about every other person in ******* is Uncle ***. Once we went over the ********* and Taxes for the cruise as well as taxes on any land stay he acknowledges that he does remember them mentioning something about taxes. In the end we have placed him on the do not call list and will not make any attempts to extend his package. We did offer him a courtesy All Inclusive trip to ******, however he declined.Review from Angie M

I was hoping that my local radio station wouldnt advertise a complete scam, but Family Dream Getaways operates in bad faith under hiding fees in terms and conditions. Their sales pitch on the phone does not express any future high costs that will be associated with the trips you pay for. I want individuals to get my full experience, so youll know what youre paying for or the lack of: I paid $500 for two 8D/7N trips (cruise & resort). Once I was ready to book the cruise, I was transferred to a completely different company called GoCRV. GoCRV hardly answered the phone but once I was able to speak with them, I was told the trips I requested were peak season and the fee for that would be $2K on top of the $500 Ive already paid. The secondary dates we requested only had dates in ***** and still had an additional $350 fee on top of the needing to now purchase round trip plane tickets. All in all, as someone who does not often use this website, shows empathy for business owners through and post Covid, and understands the life happens slogan to its core - its increasingly apparent that this business operates like a three-card monte ***** on a side street in ***. If for some reason you dont take my word on it, please read the plenty of one star reviews on this site that express the same issues.Family Dream Getaways Response

We contacted the client and he explained that he was trying to book the cruise for ***** The terms and conditions of the complimentary cruise advises that peak sailing dates are not included, June - August is considered peak sailing times and is either not offered or offered at a significant upgrade. Additionally the complimentary cruise is for a lower deck interior cabin. Anything outside of this will incur an upgrade charge. In trying to accommodate the clients ********** partner Go CRV will offer different options which may include offering different ports, or upgrades to accommodate their dates and at times these options may incur a charge.
While we do understand that these promotions may not work for everyone saying that it is a scam is inaccurate. We have many many customers that have successfully traveled the complimentary cruise by simply paying their Port Fees and Taxes and cruising within the parameters outlined n the terms and conditions.******************* purchased his package in July of 2023 and is nearing it's expiration. As a courtesy we will issue a partial refund of $200. We will contact ******************* and advise him of the refund.
