This was a case of intimidation and outright fraud. While visiting South Beach I decided to get my hair cut, styled and highlighted. Prior to checking out I looked at their pamphlet and although the prices were a bit higher than I have been used to paying they didn't seem unreasonable. That is, until it was time to check out. When I approached the cash register the guy who styled my hair rang me up and the price that was listed was $805.00. At first, I thought it was a joke but then he proceeded to talk down to me and told me that I was in the wrong place if I didn't have to money. I told him that wasn't the point, the point was that the pamphlet listed one price for everything and when you add up everything he did to me it still only comes up to $425 at the most. That is when he pointed to the pamphlet and said do you see that small plus next to the price, I said yes. He said that plus means I can charge whatever I want. I told him, that wasn't fair and that he wasn't acting in an ethical way. He then told me that his rent is 10k a month there and asked me where I was from. I told him Colorado and he said well if you go to a salon in Colorado they only have $2K in rent. I told him that I'm not paying for rent, I'm paying to have my hair done and that $800 is a rip off. He acted as if he were doing me a favor and took $100 off. He could tell that I was getting upset because that is when a man from the back came in between me and the door. I had a girlfriend with me and we both felt very intimidated. We were the only people in the store that day. No other customers came in...which now, I understand why. I had no choice but to pay because the man with the broom looked like he would tried to hurt us if we chose to leave to get help. I paid $705 dollars and regret every moment spent in the establishment.
