    We were faced with an unplanned foundation and patio fix this winter. Once the foundation was fixed, the patio that had been demolished needed to be rebuilt. We hired Quality Hardscapes (QH) as their work and reviews on Facebook spoke well to the job they could do, and when we met with Mr. ****** he was excited, eager, and seemed to share our need in getting this job done quickly. In our initial meeting he came with ideas that I was looking forward to implementing, which showed to me he had done this before. QH was awarded the job with the understanding of urgency given our circumstances.

    When receiving the deposit, we were asked to provide a deposit of 83% of the work, instead of the 50% that was in our contract. We in good faith provided this to aid in ordering materials and moving ahead. Up to this point, communication and follow through had been great. Over the next two weeks though, there was no reliability or accountability from QH. They would not show up on planned days, and not hear from them until the afternoon of those days. I was understanding at first as life happens, but days and excuses piled on each other and we finally told them we were not moving forward with them anymore. In the two weeks, Mr. ****** had come by our house twice, once on a Friday afternoon to say they would finally begin the next Monday, and then on a Wednesday afternoon two hours before a rainstorm. They took down existing tarps to work, and poorly replaced them which caused me to have to replace and bail water during the rainstorm.

    Upon terminating them from the job, we asked for a refund of our deposit minus the two hours of work and a small material dropoff. They fought that we had a breach of contract and that their contract stipulates that we would only get % back. This is listed no where in their contract though. Mr. ****** agreed to repay some money within 30 days. That passed with no action. I am now pursuing repayment in Small Claims Court.
