    Advertising Review:

BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising. These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints and competitor challenges. BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

On 11/09/2023  BBB contacted the business regarding their advertised products on their website. The BBB has asked the business to substantiate the financial compensation claim stated on the website as required by BBB’s Code of Advertising.

The business advertised the following product on their website:

    https://www.biolifeplasma.com/

“Donating plasma can make a big difference to your monthly income, and an even bigger difference in the lives of people with rare diseases. New donors can get up to $900 in their first month donating,”

“We compensate every donor for the time they dedicate for each donation, since the process required can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours.”

The BBB Code of Advertising States:

    1. Basic Principles of the Code

1.1 The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.

1.2 Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used.

1.3 An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true.

1.4 Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact.

    34. Claimed Results

Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.

As of 11/27/2023, business has not responded to BBB emails or substantiated claims.

I have been donating for years at the same location in ************, **. Tonight I went there and I was waiting to donate when they finally came and said they had an issue in the system and I was not going to be able to donate. I asked if I was getting paid. The manager came and with a lot of arrogance, told me that he applied a coupon to my account and I could go back the next day. However, that would totally mess up my other coupon. I needed to donate 2x to get paid that week. He told me to move to a different area and I asked if I was still getting paid. He said: I don't know. I said: I drove here for nothing and you don't know if I am getting paid or not? I just need an answer. Next thing, he said he was gonna call the police on me. Tried to get me in a room with him (no idea why as I NEVER threatened him). Meanwhile, a random white man starts yelling in front of everyone that I was wrong and that they should call the police on me. This was an explicit case of DISCRIMINATION. I am a Latina woman. I did absolutely nothing to receive the treatment I received. The manager treated me like I was less than human. If you pull the camera, he had this smile on his face all the time and was RUDE for no reason, really acting like he was above me and I had no right to ask for an explanation at all. I will continue to escalate this issue through all channels.
