I was released from the hospital and was sent home. I had been sleep deprived since I had been sent home for about a week, on June 9 the Mainteance had not sent out notice that they would be using power tools to fix the below neighbors issue. This loud noise startled me out of my sleep, and I called the office and the women advise that they would the team stop for the day but they resume next day. I played back down and ten minutes later they resumed with the power tools, which sent me into an emotional rage and I banged on the floor a total of two times. I then spoke with **** who advise he would reach out to try to get them to postpone again. But instead a white women came to my door upset and didn't introduce herself, I later learned she was Mainteance director whom was rude, not understand of my life threatening surgery I had five days prior. She was more concerned about the team getting their job done than the tenants who pay rent. She showed zero remorse as I stood in tears. I filed a complaint against her, and then on June 13 they tried claiming we were the cause of the damages after they had already charged us $50 for the so-called damages. They charges us additional $1127.50, without provide proof which states in the Illinois law they must prove invoices and receipts from their vendors for the damages. Although, I do not agree with because all we did was screw on a single shower head. The original Mainteance man who we talked to weeks prior advise we are fine just add some teflon tape and that show make it more sturdy. But he never once said that our shower head cause an entire pipe to burst and leak thru a ceiling because that's impossible. I think the Mainteance director is retaliating against my complain I made to Sophie the office manager. She also didn't mention any additional charges to the $50 we already paid. We cannot afford to pay this and pay $1049 in rent. I advised them they mines well evicted us because now we cannot afford anything, nor food.

We are sorry to learn of the hardships faced by Ms. ****** and wish her a healthy recovery.  We also regret not introducing ourselves when responding to her distress call, on behalf of our Director of Maintenance.  However, the work being undertaken was normal apartment maintenance and can only be done during the daytime.  We are always happy to try to accommodate special requests regarding scheduling.  However, the damage we needed to repair was caused by Ms. ******.  She has since informed us that her renter's insurance is covering her liability. Therefore, we believe the financial burden of this event is something for which she has coverage.  We are going to decline the opportunity to forgive the cost of repairing the damage.  We look forward to improved relations going forward.

I am rejecting this response because:

While they assume my insurance will be covering this, they where not aware of my insurance. I never provided proof of insurance to them and they are only money hungry. None the less if the insurance does not cover it they will not be receiving funds as I stated we cannot afford this out of pocket. THE LEASE FOES NOT STATE WE CAN BE CHARGED FOR LABOR, it states we can be charged for damages. I don’t accept the answers they provide and will just deal with it when the time comes to attend court. They also did not list these charges are labor they where listed as cost for the damages. When in fact It does not cost $1,175.50 to fix the whole in the ceiling. It costed maybe $300 and that’s huge difference from labor cost. At the end of the day, we will deal with whatever comes next.
