My condo community has 32 units served by one boiler. My radiator sprang a leak. I called the property management company and their ******* stopped the leak by turning my radiator off. He left but came back and cut off a piece of the radiator; sparks were flying, he was not wearing safety glasses and my curtains were right there.I called another heating company and received a quote of $855 for the installation and replacement of my radiator. The day my heating company came to install my radiator, the mgmt *** gave the workmen the keys to the common doors and the boiler room. I went down and my workmen had both the inside and outside doors open because the lights in the boiler room were not working. The workmen had several ceiling tiles *****; they informed me that they found the valves in the ceiling for bleeding the radiators for my tier (4 units vs. 32). My workmen also informed me that there was a relief valve on the boiler that was leaking. The mgmt ***representative came over and my workmen showed him the leaking boiler valve and the valves they had located in the ceiling to bleed just the 4 units. The instillation of my radiator could not be done this visit because it was getting colder and no one was sure if the ceiling valves would work.My workmen came 12 days later to install my radiator. The lights in the boiler room were still not working, the relief valve on the boiler was still leaking and while installing my radiator, they discovered that the management company ******* should not have cut off the piece of my radiator. Because of the facts that 12 days after my workmens first visit the boiler relief valve was still leaking; there were no lights in the boiler room; my workmen had to find the valves for bleeding 4 vs. 32 units and the mgmt co ******* unnecessarily cutting off a piece of my radiator, I was charged $2,596 vs. the $855 I was quoted. I am requesting reimbursement.
