While a tenant in a Shodeen apartment rental, I was involved in a serious car accident resulting in multiple injuries including a right hip replacement. When I moved in, I was able to pay their inflated rental rate of $2,240. As a result of the accident, I had to retire and discussed it with their property manager advising that I could no longer afford the high rent. I lived in a 2 bedroom and studio ****s only and was told that there was a studio available. The property manager showed me the studio but failed to advise that it was an ADA **** meaning the kitchen cabinetry had false fronts. I began to sell my furniture in preparation on moving in including a beautiful sectional and dining room table. I returned to see the **** again and was given the keys to view the **** myself. I was at that time that I discovered there were no drawers, and the kitchen cabinetry has false fronts. When I explained to the manager that I could not accept the ADA ****, she responded that I had to be creative in placing my dishes, silverware, etc on the counter. I declined saying that I would have to move out due to the car accident. The manager demanded a $4,400 Opt Out Fee which I explained that I couldn't afford as I was still going for medical treatment and paying medical bills. The accident was the other driver's fault and the case has not yet settled. Now, I am having difficulty finding another apartment as she tells them I still owe $4,400. They kept my deposit. Exceptions should be made - life happens, My surgeon told me it could take **** months to completely recover. Shame on you, Shodeen
