I purchased a **** ***** c10 pickup from volocars.com on July 18th,2023. The ad stated it was ground up restored. I was told all was working as it should including the a/c. When the truck was delivered, the transporter had trouble unloading due to it kept cutting off. After I drove it in my garage I raised the hood to find power steering fluid all over the firewall and the left front wheel and brakes. I took it to a repair shop and was told the high pressure hose needed to be replaced. He also advised me the brakes pad was contaminated. He also check the a/c and found 2 values that were bad. I sent the sales manager a email and he agreed to reimburse me the $331.00 for the service. He would not pay for the brakes because he said I could clean the pads and they would be ok. I went back to the repair shop and told him to check the truck out to be sure all was ok. He found the left rear wheel cylinder was frozen up along with the brake booster not working and the master cylinder was full of rust and water. The carburetor would not adjust and needed a new one. The body bushings were bad and needed replaced. The sale manager has give me a total of $531. and refused to cover the cost of the other items. I have had to paid for everything on a car that was advertised ground up restored. I am having the bushings done in 2 weeks at a cost of $1854. Ground up means everything . In the video of the car *********** states all he had to do was adjust the carburetor and set the timing and fix the temperature gage. I had to replace the valve cover gaskets because they were leaking oil everywhere. The starter had to be replaced also. I cannot believe they can stay in business misleading customers the way they do. I am requesting a refund of $3,500 for the work that had to be performed to make the truck safe and drivable. I will up load pictures of items replaced and receipts.

Purchaser purchased the vehicle in as-is condition and waived the right of a personal inspection or inspection of a 3rd party.  Attachments are the documents signed by the buyer acknowledging this.  Even though the vehicle was sold as-is out salesman agreed to work with the buyer in a reasonable manner.  A power steering hose failed after the car left our facility, which was not something predictable, we agreed to and reimburse the buyer for those those and other items.  We did not agree to a full brake replacement because that was done at the discretion of the buyer and out of the scope of the repairs we felt obligated to.  As for the buyers description of the use "ground up", ground up is a loose term to describe a restoration and not a specific term such as frame-off, which means the frame was removed.  We did not describe the truck as frame-off restored and do not feel obligated to for any reimbursement for the buyers higher than described and unrealistic expectations especially when we did not deny him the right to an inspection.  This is an opinion based complaint and we are confident in our actions and opinions.

I am rejecting this response because:
Why would you advertise  ground up restored  if in your words you said that it is used loosely.  Most people would take it as the way you advertise.  Ground up restored.  So according to you ,it ok to used misleading phases.  What is your definition ? Why in the video  would ***************** say we only found 3 things temperature gage, timing and carburetor adjustment, when it was clean the body bushings were bad.  Very misleading. I went on the word of ***************** and the words ground up restored.  You should have never advertise those.  You are wrong.
      Sincerely,

      ***********************

Ground up restored has no official definition and is a vague term, the only way to define if a body was removed from the frame would be to describe it as frame-off or frame-up, neither of which were used to describe this vehicle.  And while opinions may differ I am assuming that the description of ***'s that you used to purchase the car were the video and ad.  The video which clearly states "This video is for descriptive purposes only and should not replace a formal inspection.  Information in this video is based on opinion with more than 30 years experience in the collector ********* and is true to the best of our knowledge at the time of filming. Certain variables may change between the time of filming and the sales of the automobile. It is suggested the buyer confirms any concerns and views the car in person before purchasing".  or the ad which states "  "I, *****************, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail."   It is up to the buyer to do your due diligence prior to the sale, we disclaim this on both out written description and video.  It is also clearly written on our bill of sale which requires your signatures and which you did sign.  These items include "I have declined independent inspection of purchased vehicle and accept all responsibilities for condition and authenticity of my purchased vehicle." ". ALL SALES ARE "AS IS" AND "WHERE IS." PURCHASER IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR INSPECTION AND VERIFICATION OF CONDITION,
AUTHENTICITY, AND COMPLETENESS OF ANY PURCHASED VEHICLE. ANY AND ALL STATEMENTS, REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY
TYPE OR KIND WHATSOEVER MADE BY VOLO EMPLOYEES OR STAFF, INCLUDING THOSE PRINTED IN CATALOGS, BROCHURES, SIGNS, WINDOW
CARDS, VERBAL STATEMENTS, OR THOSE APPEARING ON VOLO'S WEB SITE, REPRESENT ONLY VOLO OPINIONS. FURTHER, PURCHASER
ACKNOWLEDGES AND AGREES THAT HE/SHE HAS BEEN ENCOURAGED TO HAVE HIS/HER EXPERT OR INDIVIDUAL OF CHOICE INSPECT THE
PURCHASED VEHICLE PRIOR TO PURCHASE. PURCHASER SHOULD DISREGARD STATEMENTS OR REPRESENTATIONS CONCERNING THE
AUTHENTICITY OR CONDITION OF THE PURCHASED VEHICLE INCLUDING THAT THE VEHICLE IS RUST FREE. PURCHASER AGREES AND
ACKNOWLEDGES THAT VOLO AND/OR CONSIGNOR OF THE PURCHASED VEHICLE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED,
CONCERNING AND IN RELATION TO MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS, CONDITION, ORIGINALITY, AUTHENTICITY, ORIGIN OR PROVENANCE,
MATCHING NUMBERS, PREVIOUS USE OR OWNERSHIP, MANUFACTURING OR RESTORATION PROCESSES, YEAR OR AGE, SERIAL NUMBER, MAKE,
MODEL, OPTIONS, TOOLS, COMPONENTS OR MILEAGE OF ANY PURCHASED VEHICLE."   Volo Museum will not agree to pay $3500 because you as a buyer did not do your due diligence prior to purchase. None of the repairs you are claiming total that amount, the body bushings are not in need of replacing for any safety hazard, A full body bushing kit is avalabile for less than $100 *************************************************************************************************************************************************************;  We have already given you $561 towards the repairs we agreed you were due.  A frame-off restored vehicle would command a higher dollar, photos of the undercarriage are also shown with our description and clearly represents an undercarriage that was not "frame-off"

I am rejecting this response because: groundup as I see it means just what it's ground restored. You stated it has no official definition  and is a Vague term. If that is so why would you used it in your advertising of the truck.  Sounds like you are misleading the customer.  Be very clear on what and how you advertise . Body bushings you said cost $100.00 if you look at the quote you see the labor charge to install them when you add the quote for the bushings it does come to actually over $3500. Unless all my receipts did not upload. You stated you gave me $561. Correction you gave me $531.  I am willing to settle for $2,000. Are you willing to meet me there and put this behind us?  I had to put a new starter, new carburetor new brakes and master cylinder,  booster, power steering hoses, valve covers gaskets, a/c valve and charged, and  thermostat . I have receipts.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************

We bought the car on the 8th of August. I had to call them the whole 3 week period to keep informed, they never called me. There was a repair done and not done well. Then they had me do the calling and preparing for the car delivery. We received the car on August 18th at 8pm. We took the car to ********** and insured at 9am on the 19th. At 12 noon, the floor shifter fell loose, to find it broken from a bad weld. I called Volo, many times to no avail. When I finally got our salesman **** he blew me off and said all other paperwork was in the mail, which, its not then I asked about a ****** dollar photo shoot we paid for, he said hes looking into it. They are not going to help in any way and they are not refunding our ****** also not calling to remedy any of this. I feel like weve been had!!

The car in question was an incoming car that had not been processed or serviced.  The customer was aware that the car needed to to be processed through our shop before it could be released.  The customer then decided to have the car delivered instead of being picked up.  We do not offer delivery service. We helped the customer arrange for delivery, the delivery added to the time it took for the customer to get the car as well.  When the customer reached out about the shifter issue and photo packet we asked for a picture of the shifter and agreed to refund the fees but never heard back from the customer.  This is all documented through email.

I purchased a restored **** Chevrolet from Volo in November 2021 and did read the D@B reviews for the company before the purchase but only the first few pages of positive comments. Had I gone further I would have found the many negative comments. The salesman gave me an estimate early on of $2,000 to ship my car to CA and later a quote of $2,400. When it finally came time to ship my car the carrier called and informed me the cost would be $2,800. When I objected and referenced my quote of $2,400 his response was take it or leave it, you can come pick up the car yourself. I was informed that before shipping my car it would go through another physical inspection. The shop ******* informed me that the speedometer was malfunctioning and would be repaired. The speedometer now registers 17 miles over the actual speed. I was unable to get the radio to turn and my mechanic discovered a blown fuse. When he replaced the fuse smoke begin streaming out of the dashboard. When I reported this to the shop *************************** and referred to the problem being a safety issue his response was it did not become a safety issue until you installed the new fuse!To date the above issues have cost me an additional $400 to ship the car; $150 to have the radio rewired and the estimate to recalibrate the speedometer is $150. On January 31, 2022 I sent a two page letter to ******************* outlining my problems and asking Volo to reimburse the amount of $700. Hearing no response, I followed up leaving two telephone messages for ***** still with no response.************************* 2/28/22

Hello, this is *********************.  I would like to note that I am not in the sales division and would be the wrong contact to help in this situation.  Neither a letter nor phone call ever made it to my desk and for that I do apologize.  The right person to contact moving forward would be *** or ******.  I did discuss the situation with them this morning.  The response I received about this was that there was a speedometer issue, several hundred dollars were spent to remove the gauge from the dash and rebuild / replace it to fix the gauge.  Radios are not something on our checklist because it isn't a safety issue.  Our team is agreeing to reimburse you for the radio and speedometer recalibration.  The shipping, however is the responsibility of the buyer.   It is not provided by us and we have no control over their rates.  We merely provide a referral and help in arranging.  If you have a dispute with the shipping costs you would need to contact the shippers and dispute it with them.
