I do not recommend using Plumbing and Heating Paramedics if you are a single woman. I do believe that I would have been taken advantage of if I did not do my research, and request fairness and respect. I called Plumbing and Heating Paramedics when my heater was not working. **** was assigned to my job. He called an 1 hours prior to his arrival window and said he was coming. I informed him that nobody was there because the arrival time was not for another 1 hours. He seemed bothered by this and said the office should have told me to be there 45 min prior to the arrival window. He then came to inspect my heater and found the humidifier had leaked water onto the gas valve. He stated the gas valve needed to be replaced, but he recommended that the whole system be replaced as the **** was 15 years old (understandable). I proceeded to discuss a quote on how much a Trane unit would cost (****** BTU/80% and 16 SEER/3 TON). He quoted me $10,500. In the meantime he scheduled to replace the gas valve four days later, as he had to order the part. It was cold outside and therefore my daughter and I were staying at another house. I was given the arrival time of the serviceman to be from 3-5pm, for which my gas valve would be placed and the heat would be restored. At 6:00pm nobody had arrived or even called. I called the office and left a message with the answering service. I got a call back and a man stated ***** had an emergency and gave him the valve to install that night. The person that had to replace my gas valve stated he works in the office and this was not part of his typical job. It was finally installed at 8:00pm. After my heat was restored, I informed them that I would like to schedule installation but did not want to do so immediately due to cost; I set the installation date to be about 1-2 months. I did not sign any agreement at this time because I was instructed by others that I should get another estimate. I called ****. Their quote for the same unit but better BTU (90,000/90%) was $7,900 ($2,600 difference). After I received this quote, I called Plumbing and Heating Paramedics to cancel the installation (3 weeks prior to time of installation). I expected to pay for the gas valve, as it was a service they provided. It was going to be free if I had them install a new ****, but since I decided to go with another company, I was aware that I would have to pay for it. Soon after I called the office to cancel the installation, ****** initial reaction was to text me I would like to know whats going on. If you're having another company install a system then I will need to get out there today and remove that gas valve. I told him he could come get the valve, just let me know what time he was going to arrive. He then wanted me to send the quote from ****** and he stated he would price match it. At this point, I no longer wanted anything to do with him because of the lack of honesty and customer service, and also his initial reaction was to threaten me by removing the gas valve (my heat) that day. At the end of the text conversation, I told him I would bring the gas valve to the office. He stated the valve can just stay in there because Im not able to use it now since its used. This proves he wanted to remove my gas valve because he was angry that I did not proceed with installing an **** with him, as he can not reuse the valve. He then proceeded to quote me for the gas valve at $733. Description of gas valve includes single stage heating unit, gas line size, OEM, natural gas, HSI, easy accessibility. I said this is not a fair market price based on the details of my unit (I discussed the cost of the gas valve with ****** who said it should not be any higher than $500). After ***** talked to his supervisor, he said he can drop the price to $560.
