A family run company. Built a 8’x33’ treated pine deck w/Trex decking and 8’x13’ pergola. Grady P***(owner) gave consultation in mid-Feb. We agreed to 30K for deck and a pergola for porch. The job completed first week of July. His brothers and a mixed work crew did the construction. The job went over budget $900. There were major delays and the craftsmanship was not what I expected from a professional, 30+ year company. The carpentry was below my standards with very poor angular cuts and mismatched symmetry. My relationship and communications deteriorated to strictly working with his Brother(job foreman). Grady disassociated from the job and forced all responsibility to me and his Brother. Their Trex deck looked good from far, but up close, poor measuring and cutting! They were unable to finance their own work and needed funds before our agreed scheduled payment plan. I accepted the final product “as is”, for fear they would quit the job after receiving 90% of funding, due to complaints and criticism. I truly just wanted them to finish and to have a “complete deck”. It was, unfortunately, very hot and humid during much of the later construction, due to “delays”, which might account for craftsmanship. I urged Grady to come out to my house and do a final inspection, but was rebuffed and defaulted to his Brother. I couldn’t have build a better deck myself and was happy to have it complete. I’m currently in the process of reconstructing a portion of the outside fascia for the stairs’ stringer. I should have fought more, but felt like I was the contractor during much of the job and the fight was out of me. I would caution before contracting. Do your homework! I guarantee they will not be using this deck to showcase their work. I hope and pray this deck is an outlier and “ one-off”. I feel the construction should have been better for his salesmanship, experience, and my costs.

    Sunset Decks And Pergolas Response

Good Morning, Billy, I am deeply saddened that we could not live up to our reputation. Despite all of the best intentions, things don’t always go according to the plan, but we do try! We have been in business for 26 years and have thousands of satisfied customers with an A+ rating at the Better Business Bureau for a reason. I will be glad to come out and take care of any issues that you have. We only survive on a Happy and Satisfied Customer! After you inviting the Crew to swim in your pool and offering them a cash bonus for doing such a good job, reading your in-depth Better Business Bureau review, feels like quite an ambush. First of all, your job went “over budget” because your original Trex Colors were not available and we had to go with a different line of Trex. Sunset Decks and Pergolas ate most of that difference and only charged you $900. The delays on Trex’s end were unfortunate, but I always kept you in the loop with everything I knew, when I knew it. I offered my sources and contacts for you to verify. The Facts Are..Home Depot said the Trex Handrail would take up to 3 months to come in. It came in early and we had it installed on your deck in less than a month. That is all we can do! My Text Chain clearly shows No Word of any quality issues, quite the opposite. You said the deck was "looking sharp”, “The deck looks sharp. The gate looks very good, like an original Trex component.” And "I can give the guys alot of the credit. The yard was left nice and clean too.” We install about 130 jobs per year. I trust My Crew Chiefs, who have been working the job, to handle most issues that come up. They are Always In Charge of going over any final inspections, and then, collecting the money at the end of the job. They do that Ever Day for Sunset Decks and Pergolas. You were not treated Any Differently. Attached are pictures of the completed deck and our text chain. The Better Business Bureau can see if I have miscommunicated or misled you in any way. Sincerely, Grady Pace President Sunset Decks and Pergolas Here is our Text Chain starting: June 4th Grady Pace: Rebecca Thurston is from Waterhaeuser. That is where a lot of different materials like Trex and our Cedar comes from. She was simply commenting on several different jobs that were delayed. That’s all I wanted you to see. I have no other comment. Everything is ordered and on its way. +1 (318) 349-4576: Grady, thanks for getting back to me with the update. Is it too much to ask to please let me know when the railing arrives in Boise Cascade, Dallas? I’d really appreciate it. Grady Pace: I will ask Ron to keep me updated on anything arriving in Dallas and pass any updates on to you! +1 (318) 349-4576: Thank you Grady, Checking in with you and hoping this finds you guys and the business, blessed and thriving. Have you heard any words from Ron, or by chance happened to inquire about your materials arriving at Boise Cascade distribution in Dallas, TX? Are the materials still scheduled for delivery in early August or perhaps a mercurial date to the left or right? GodSpeed Billy Grady Pace: Rob is already doing another check today. I’ll let you know what he finds out! Ron +1 (318) 349-4576: That’s great Grady. Thanks. Grady Pace: You are welcome! Ron says your Trex is in Monroe and should be in by Friday. We will hold our breath and cross our fingers! +1 (318) 349-4576: Ok, that sounds good Grady. Thanks for the update. Grady Pace: Good news! Your Trex Handrail parts came in at Home Depot! We will confirm that everything came in correctly, ourselves, this weekend. We plan on coming to install on Tuesday, if everything checks out! +1 (318) 349-4576: Grady, thanks for the follow up. I’m happy the handrail parts arrived. I hope it’s all correct. Tuesday sounds good. Are you planning to be here too? If not, you should visit to see how the deck is coming along. Have a good weekend. Good morning Grady. How did it go at HD this weekend? Did the order arrive correctly? Grady Pace: We are picking it up this morning. We will let you know if everything is a go for tomorrow. +1 (318) 349-4576: Ok, thank you. Grady Pace: The crew is headed your way now to get a couple of hours of work in. They should finish tomorrow +1 (318) 349-4576: Thanks Grady, that sounds good. I’ll be here. Grady Pace: ?? +1 (318) 349-4576: Thanks again to the guys today. It’s looking sharp. Grady, Your Brothers will be back tomorrow. They still need to fabricate the safety gate. Can you please be here when they finish so we can do a final inspection. Thank you. Grady Pace: Billy, the Crew is going to build the gate before they come out tomorrow. I will not be able to make it out there tomorrow. If there are any issues, you can bring them to Dancy. +1 (318) 349-4576: Grady, Im sorry they are building it tonight. They seemed surprised when I asked about it. Were they aware of it? Grady Pace: Yes, Dancy was aware of it. The plan was to build it at the end. That’s what they will do tomorrow morning! +1 (318) 349-4576: Grady, The deck looks sharp. The gate looks very good, like an original Trex component. Dancy and the guys cleaned up the minor stuff I saw. I’m pleased. Thank you, your patience is appreciated. Have a good 4th of July. GodSpeed Billy Grady Pace: It’s a July 4th miracle! I was pleased with the gate, as well! It is a Gorgeous Deck! I am so glad everything worked out just in time for the holiday..enjoy!! +1 (318) 349-4576: I can give the guys alot of the credit. The yard was left nice and clean too. Thanks again Grady Pace: Always good to hear! IMG_1413.jpeg IMG_1414.jpeg Grady Pace, President Sunset Decks And Pergolas 3935 E.
