I reached out to CYBEX in January of 2024 concerning my Cybex sirona S seat for my 3 year old son. I bought seat because of the high rear facing limits. ( 50 pounds and 49 inches) My son as of January at 2 years, 7 months old has not been able to safely rear face. That makes no sense since my son is 39 inches ( now in june) and 38 pounds ( as of June). When my son is sitting in the seat with the straps above, at , or below his head is about 2 inches over the shell of the seat making the car seat unsafe to use so completely useless to our son and our needs. When i reached out i was sent a case number but zero reply. I then reached out again and recieved no responc, I then called and was sent a response. The customer service i spoke to was friendly and nice but the replies left much to b desired. I was told my 30th percentile son who is 10 inches/ over 10 pounds below the rear facing limit of the seat had out grown the rear face seat ( which i know) but my question is why and how? My son is WELL BELOW the marketed limit of the seat. He is only the 30th percentile of his age. The reply was to forward face him ( which i reminded them he is still not safe to do per their manual ) but regardless front facing before 4 raises the risk of injury or death by upward to 75 percent. I bought this seat for the sole purpose of rear facing until at least 4 years old. when i stated that in a follow up email they then emailed me back telling me to basically disregard the safety manual they have wrote and rear face my child with the straps raised above the his shoulders. How could this possibly be safe when a manual has been written and tested to ensure the safeness of a child. How is this even legal?? To sell a child safety seat designed to keep a child safe and alive yet lie about the height and weight of the child it can safely do that. I am now out of ALOT of money and having to replace 3 seats just to keep my child safe.
