              I purchased a Bible from Christianbook.com last month. This month, I noticed a $16.95 charge to my credit card from Christianbook.com. When I called, I was told, to my great surprise, that I was enrolled in a $16.95/month rewards program. I asked to be un-enrolled and to be refunded for the $16.95 charge, and the merchant did both. Heres my complaint (apparently shared by other customers who filed complaints with the *********************: whatever mechanism Christianbook.com used to sign us up for these recurrent charges was deceptive. I would never knowingly agree to a $16.95 recurrent monthly charge for a rewards program. Its hard to imagine any individual customer who would. I check my orders carefully. On their website, after the fact, is no way that I can see to easily view this rewards program. Presumably, it pops up in a deceptive and innaparent way only when checking out.

              Somehow I was unintentionally enrolled in the Christian **** Rewards program. The program charged me $16.95 a month for 2 months. When I reached out to the company, they cancelled the account, but said that I agreed to the charges, which I would never have done. Please help me get my money back. Total scam.

It's important to us that our offerings are clear and beneficial for our customers so we try to send email periodically about your membership status so that you're aware of your active enrollment--we're sorry you missed those.

              When you placed your order with us, we presented an offer to receive a rebate on your order. It asked for you to provide your email address and click on the join button and explained that after the 30-day free trial there is a $16.95 monthly fee for Christianbook Rewards.

              We've confirmed that your account has been cancelled and will make sure that you're refunded for any charges that were posted to your account for your ********************** Rewards membership.
