Flaherty Painting and Handyman Services Response
08/22/2024
The information above is not accurate. I told the customer I would ATTEMPT to patch a very old roof on a very old structure that had very limited time left. Both the roof and structure support need replacing - what is there is essentially a tear down. I did that in November of 2023. After an ENTIRE WINTER the customer contacted me with the statement that it was leaking. She did not ask for any action and I was not intending to go back there to do additional work after the structure had taken a winter's worth of activity. I did not reply and did not hear back from her again.
She contacted me in August of 2024 telling me that since I hadn't responded (in March, 6 months prior) demanding my insurance. I heard from her once and only once in March and, again, she made a statement that her garage was leaking again. Did not ask for anything in that initial message and had she asked me to do something I would have indicated that she rode out the entire winter with the garage in that condition. When she asked me 9 months later for my insurance information I told her I was not providing my insurance information because it is not a result of my work. It is a result of aging and needing replacement.
I contacted my insurance company, informed them of the above information (typed here) and my insurance company representative told me that the time limit that had passed (4 months from when I completed a roof patch) did not warrant me providing her that information. I followed the lead of my insurance company and do not believe I am in the wrong here. I have been in business for 8 years and not once had a complaint.
