After being a loyal customer of Sharp Energy's propane delivery service for more than five years and never missing a payment, Sharp Energy failed to cash an on-line payment from my bank. This resulted in my account being put as "late payment" and my propane delivery being put on hold--all without notice. It came to my attention today during the coldest Polar Vortex of 2024 (so far when my furnace and hot water heater stopped working. I called Sharp Energy to find out why my tank was empty and only then learned they had not made my regular delivery. Even though I could show them that payment had been executed and cleared through my bank two weeks prior, they claimed that on-line payments "go to a PO Box" and that it takes them two weeks or more to process the payment. They did not explain why they could not hace called, written, texted or emailed to let me know there was a problem. And even with my many years of loyal patronage, they said they could not schedule a delivery without a penlty payment in advance--and even then it would be "a couple of days" before they could set something up. I fired them on the spot and called another company that ran a quick check, saw that I had excellent credit, and now have a delivery scheduled for tomorrow--at a lower price than Sharp had been charging. I am waiting to see whether I have water pipe, water heater, or firnace damage from the lack of propane before determining whether legal action is called for. But what takes no additional waiting time is the determination that this action by Sharp Energy is not just rude, short-sighted, and damaging to their own interests, it is potentially extremely harmful to my and my family's health and the physical integrity of myhome and property. Do business with this company at your own peril.
