We initiated assistance with ending our timeshare on Hilton head, sc almost 3 years. We were promised that they were our best option and the problem would be resolved in under 2 years. Needless to say this could not be further from the truth. We were charged $7000.00. They did send a letter to the resort and advised us to stop making payments. Didn't hear from them for some time. When they did contact it was to assure us that it was just a matter of time and to be patient. Our next contact was from ** law stating that they had taken over our case. We didn't agree to this change. We were assigned more than 3 lawyers over this time each one promising results before disappearing. Today yet another person, have no idea if this is an actual lawyer or not, stated that they were done and to continue We needed to cough up more money. If we chose not to pay they would contact the resort and tell them they were no longer representing us and that we would just have to accept whatever the resort wanted to do. Sounds like extortion to me. The whole thing is a scam. We made a poor decision that continues to haunt us. The whole thing should be illegal.

Thank you for reaching out to share your concerns. We understand your frustration and sincerely apologize for any confusion or miscommunication along the way.

Please rest assured that Newton Group remains committed to fulfilling the terms of our contract and continuing to assist you through the timeshare exit process. As per the agreement you signed, our role was to provide services up to the point where a law firm was engaged on your behalf. Since that transition, we have coordinated with the law firm, as outlined in your contract, to ensure the continuation of your case.

We recognize that these cases can be complex and vary depending on each resorts response and legal nuances. While we understand this has taken longer than you hoped, we want to emphasize that timeframes can differ significantly and are not guaranteed, as initially noted in the contract you agreed to. The law firm will continue to pursue a resolution within the established timeline, and we encourage you to remain in close contact regarding any updates.

We value your trust and appreciate your patience as we continue to work on your behalf. If you have any further questions or would like additional clarity on next steps, please feel free to contact our customer service team.

On approximately July 23, 2024 I was contacted by Newton Group and they promised a very detailed plan to get me out of two time shares. They promised their services would continue until my two timeshares were canceled. The process kept me busy for the next week or so collecting all of the information and details about my situation. This was just a ruse to get past the three day recession period. They simply wanted to make it look like all of this background information would be useful in resolving my cases. They claimed to give me a discount for bundling two timeshares together in their program. They scheduled a panel conference call for August 30 , 2024 for both of the resorts which included the Law Group they use. Each call took about ten minutes. Their so called solution was to either pay about $10000 more to have a broker take them over or to default on the maintenance fees when they come due in January 2025. It is painfully clear that they never looked at any of the documents that they asked me to collect. Their only goal was to make sure that this dragged the process out beyond the recession period so that they could steal my money. I would be shocked if they ever offer anything beyond paying substantially more money to get a broker or for you to simply not make any more payments to the timeshare companies when the next bills arrived. In the end their service was totally worthless and leaves me on the hook for $11800 . Pretending like me stopping payments to the timeshares is something worth paying them for is criminal at best. Their business model is get the contract signed/ make vague promises on how good your case looks/ sending you on a time consuming journey collecting documents they will never even bother to review/ get past the recession period before finally offering you their standard two bogus methods of terminating your timeshare.. They want to put you on the hook and do zilch. The company is just another evil scam out to get money for nothing.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback, and we want to assure you that your concerns have been heard. At Newton Group, our primary goal is to help clients find the best possible solution for exiting their timeshare, and we take our contractual obligations very seriously.

Upon reviewing your account, it is clear that every step of the process, from the contract details to the services provided, was in line with what was outlined during your initial consultation. Our team worked diligently to ensure that you were informed about all available options, including the broker and legal representation paths. It’s important to note that the decision to move forward with legal representation was based on your choice after declining the broker option, as confirmed during your panel call with the inventory specialist and attorney.

We understand that navigating timeshare exit options can be a complex process, and while the recommendations provided may not have aligned with your expectations, they are in accordance with the strategies discussed during your consultation and panel call. The time invested in gathering documents was essential for our team and partners to fully assess your case and explore the most viable routes for your exit.

We also want to clarify that the right to cancel was available to you within the contractual three-day rescission period, which was thoroughly explained during your onboarding process. Unfortunately, the cancellation request you submitted came after this period, and as such, we are unable to make exceptions beyond what is agreed upon in the contract.

Our commitment to working toward your exit remains steadfast, and we are actively fulfilling the terms of the agreement you signed. We are happy to address any further questions or clarify any misunderstandings you may have about the next steps. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team if you would like to discuss this further.

Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to continue working towards a successful resolution for your timeshare exit.

      Sincerely,
      Newton Group

      Complaint: 22248037

I am rejecting this response because:
There was no way to evaluate the program within the three day rescission period allowed. The possibility of a rescission was hidden from me and buried in the paperwork. Their telephone reps promised much much more than the program delivered. They sent me on a wild goose chase to collect all the time share info to make it look good and keep me busy and distracted during this hidden three day rescission period. They scheduled the conference call about thirty days out and until that call I trusted that they would come up with a realistic exit option from two time share companies . There was no way for me to make an informed choice about their program until after the conference call which was about thirty days later. At the 5 minute conference call for each of the time shares they offered only two possibilities. With the first option They wanted me to come up with another almost $10000 by paying another year of maintenance fees plus a broker to take it over. This was after paying Newton group almost $12000. The second option was to simply stop paying my maintenance fees to the two time share companies and hope they eventually gave up. What worthless advice. Charging me $11700 just to say stop paying the fees . They offered the same exact plan for both of my time shares. Obviously this is the same solution they come up with for 99% of the customers that fall for this “service.” I don’t need to pay someone $11700 just to be told stop paying your bills. That kind of advice isn’t worth anything. They certainly didn’t highlight the rescission period and in fact hid it from me just like time share companies do. The paperwork I gathered for them was never even considered. I doubt that they did anything more than store the information . A legitimate company would have done the conference call before the recession period was up but they deliberately stalled that out so that I wouldn’t see what a scam outfit they are. After I go thru this complaint I plan to file a complaint with my attorney general to see if they can shut this group down. They promised to negotiate and make an arrangement with the time share groups but in the end did nothing. The conference call options should have been presented on day one but were deliberately set into the future to hide how worthless their so called “process” was. Thank you.
      Sincerely,

      Karl Geidans

You automated with a fraudulent business and have no avenue for an appeal? Their statements are a pack of lies and I amazed if you haven’t received a ton of complaints about them. Please take a serious look at the comments I have submitted. The Newton group makes lots of false and misleading statements in their sales pitch. They totally withheld information about the right of recession and deliberately conceal the proposed solutions until a month  in so that a customer can’t cancel. Please reconsider and get a response from them. Thank you

I signed up for their assistance in timeshare contract ending. They made it very clear after requiring that I had to pay $4995 that I had to send a set of required documents within 10 days. All could be sent via email except for one that was a ***************** that had to be snail mailed. I have copies of every email sent showing all document were sent on 4/3. Despite my ************** telling them the name of my resort was Eagle Trace they still managed to put the WRONG name of the resort on my contract. On April 9 I received an automated email claiming they had not received a copy of a maintenance bill even though I knew they had. There was no one I could contact since it was an automated message. I did contact an account rep names *********************** and she confirmed they did indeed have the bill. The only thing missing out of the numerous documents were the ***** of ******** (which was snail mailed) and the property checklist. I took a picture once again and uploaded to the checklist and mailed it once again on 4/9- I had no way to control when the postal service would deliver & the mysterious documents office was going to open the envelope and properly credit the ***** of ********. On 4/14 I received a new automated email claiming the no longer had any of the previous documents I had sent and only had the maintenance bill. Despite previously having all the other documents before they have somehow disappeared. I messaged *********************** again but never heard back. It is clear this company has no idea what they are doing. They have broken a contract with me by their inability to keep my personal financial documents organized and safe. I have kept records showing every document I have sent but tbey seem to lose them from day to day. I want my money returned. This company cannot be trusted.

The Newton group did nothing to help me exit my timeshare (****************************). I engaged them on July 2nd 2021 and paid them $3995. Their communication was abysmal. After 11 months I was handed over to a company called Timely Acquisitions to whom I paid another $1295. I had to continue paying my yearly maintenance fees ($2601 over 3 years) to ************ while being restricted from using any of their facilities by both the Newton Group and Timely Acquisitions. On Oct 30th 2023 Timely notified me that Quail Hollow Owners had received correspondence that the resort will not be operational after Nov 1st 2023. I sent 2 emails to Timely Acq requesting more information as I had not heard from Crown Resorts but received no reply. I did not contact Crown Resorts as my contract with Timely and Newton Group prevented me from doing that.Crown Resorts finally contacted me and wanted $2395 for termination of contract. I sent an email to both Timely and *********************** at Newton (Nov 7th 2023) letting them know that ************ would be closing down. I requested a refund from both as neither had helped in exiting me from the timeshare. I received no reply and followed up via email on Nov 9th 2023. I received a reply from Timely but nothing from *********************** at Newton. I sent another email to ***** at Newton on Nov 13th 2023. I finally got a reply on Nov 14th 2023. ***** promised to get back to me that day, I heard nothing until I sent several follow up emails.Timely Acquisition agreed and refunded the monies I paid them. After much back and forth ******************************* from Newton Group, they offered to give me $500 if I signed a waiver to not discuss. I countered that I would settle for the $2395, the amount that I paid Crown Resorts for my exit from the timeshare.I was informed by ***************************** that because I had signed a contract in which it states that they have no obligation to me even if they do not help in exiting me from my timeshare they get to keep my money.

Made the mistake of reaching out to Newton group in July, 2023 for assistance with relinquishing a time share with Villa Palmar. I provided ALL the information requested BEFORE signing the contract with Newton Group. They were FULLY aware of the timeshare company I needed assistance with. I was coerced and convinced they've dealt with this company before and were able to assist. *****, *********, and ***** have "assisted" in coercing me into believing they can help and after signing up and speaking to the lawyer assigned to me, my only 2 options are to reach out to the timeshare directly because the timeshare company is unwilling to work with newton group or discontinue nonpayment. BOTH of these options I had before signing up with them. The fact of the matter is everyone was fully aware of their inability to assist in this matter and STILL coerced me into signing up with them. Now I have to continue to pay UCFS because I am in a contract due to Newton Group's lack of transparency. I truly do not understand how the BBB would provide them award if they're thieves and liars. I have NEVER felt so victimized and taken advantage by a company like I have been with due to Newton Group. It is astounding they are knowingly taken advantage of people who are in a extremally tough situation with a timeshare and making the matter worse for these individuals. Based on all the complaints, I cannot believe this business is still running. I am asking for my contract to be terminated as Newton Group cannot fulfill the reason I foolishly agreed to sign a contract with them. The call with ***** today is further proof this company has ONLY their own interest. There is no care, concern, or even a fake attempt at trying or even wanting to assist their customers. It is all about saying what needs to be said in the first part of the process to convince people to sign up. The 3 day cancellation is meaningless as they wait for 4 months to explain to you that they are not able to assist.

On 9/26/2020 I paid the Newton Group (#1 Trusted Name in Timeshare Exit) $23,780 to end my four timeshares (******************* in ***************) ownership safely and legally. Two of the timeshares were paid off and two have mortgages. The two paid off timeshares were quickly taken back by the resort. The other two with remaining balances the only solution from the Newton Group is to either pay them off or default on the mortgages and annual fees. The purpose of hiring the Newton Group and paying them $23,780 was to cancel the active timeshares without incurring additional costs.

This will be my second complaint regarding the Newton Group Timeshare Exit.It has been 6 years and is still on going.I have been patient and reasonable however, at this point I am left to believe that this is a take your money and wait for foreclosure scam ****eted as a safe, legal and quick time share exit. As they do nothing after taking your money other than hire attorneys that also do nothing except wait for foreclosure. The first complaint was filed in April of 2020 after 2.5 years of zero progress. The initial response the BBB received from the Newton Group was with an oh well attitude, and a response of basically, you know these things take time. After informing the BBB Rep. that their response was in no way acceptable, I was finally contacted by a Newton Group Representative asking for Just a little more time.I decided, after a few phone calls with them, to be patient and give them the Just a little more time they had asked for to make good on their word.Again, this is now at 6 years with zero progress.I paid them in November of 2017 to exit me from my time share, and I am still waiting. I made it very clear in 2017 before signing up that, I did not want a foreclosure, but an actual exit as I was going through a divorce, that the property was in both our names, and that handing over $5,000 was a huge strain on my finances, this situation was explained in greater detail on the first complaint. I was assured in 2017 that it would not be a problem. This is a direct quote from one of their representatives emails from when I first started corresponding with the Newton Group with interest in retaining their services and explaining my concerns and situation in detail. We feel that the most important element in establishing a strong relationship with our customers is gaining trust through our actions. We don't make absurd promises, but we do stand beside our 100% Money Back Guarantee. Our customers trust us, the ********************** trusts us, and the state of Michigan trusts us to deliver the best possible service, while charging competitive rates. However, they and the hired attorneys keep making excuses, backpedal, and pass the buck, stating contract this and your contract that. And said Law Firm apparently, as I have been told directly by them that, they are at the complete mercy of the timeshare company. I find that that to be very strange since part of the sales pitch by Newton Group is/was we only hire experienced time share exit attorneys with a proven track record of successful and timely exits.I was unaware that waiting around for years and years (6yrs so far) for the timeshare company to finally foreclose or basically decide to do whatever the time share company wants to do, while the attorneys that Newton Group hired keep their client completely in the dark and at risk of potentially and unknowingly racking up thousands of dollars in taxes that they could be responsible for and ruining their credit, all the while giving their clients the same generic, Were working on it at every progress update call is what they consider as the bench **** for being successful.I contacted the Newton Group with my continuing and growing concerns and they set up what they called an escalation meeting on 9 June 23 with the law firm to address my concerns. This meeting consisted of, me, the firms Senior Counsel, and the attorney (at least the 4th different one since this started) handling my case. This was a colossal waste of time as nothing was accomplished, all they did was reiterate past excuses and that they are still waiting on the timeshare company to do something. I was also spoken to in a hostile tone and told by the Senior Counsel to not worry or even think about it as they were handling it. I was blown away by such a nonsensical statement considering how long this has already taken, and the negative effects it is having not just on my credit but personal life as well.Shortly after the meeting ended, I asked the Law firm to send me %100 of my case file, to include all notes, call logs, correspondence with/to the time share company/Attorneys etc., I was very specific, I wanted everything. They drug their feet sending scraps here and there, and they had a bad attitude about doing it.I had to repeatedly contact them to get it all, and when they finally confirmed that they had sent all the work they had done and everything that my case file contained there was nothing in there other than, the initial form letters (notice of representation etc.) from 6 years ago, all the bills and fees they had collected from the timeshare, and their Attorney logs that contained nothing other than the progress update calls to me.So, this means they have basically done nothing to exit me from my time share for 6 years and were/are just waiting for it to get foreclosed on all along.I also asked for a list of payments made to the firm specifically on my behalf by the Newton group over the last 6 years, they refused and instead sent me their generic contract of service with Newton Group. Through this I discovered that Newton Group only pays the Attorneys when they do something, so it looks as though Newton Group kept most of my money for themselves. Also, after the above referenced meeting ended with the attorneys, I contacted the Newton Group and informed one of their representatives as to what transpired during this meeting, and how unhappy I still am, now the previously nice and polite rep when passing the buck to the Attorneys or escalating it to management was now completely rude, and short with me. I was basically told if I wanted to terminate services that she could start a refund however, if I terminate my contract that they would basically feed me to the wolves as I would be completely on my own, even though they got me into this horrible situation, based on their so far unfulfilled promises and poor legal representation and advice by the attorneys they hired, and wasting six years of my life. The rep went on to state very rudely, according to them, (contract this and that stuff again) if the timeshare does get foreclosed on, they consider it to be an exit, to which I responded a foreclosure is a repossession, a forceful taking back of property, it is not an actual exit (a fundamental difference that a company that supposedly specializes in time share exits should know) and I made it clear that I did not want a foreclosure from the beginning, to which the rep responded by repeating even more rudely her previous statements.I then asked if I could speak to or be contacted by a manager, to which I was told very nastily that they have already been made aware! So, no you cant! and she went on to state that it was with the attorneys and therefore not really their (Newton Groups) problem. A far cry from the, We feel that the most important element in establishing a strong relationship with our customers is gaining trust through our actions. Statements. So, to put it in perspective I paid $5,000 to sit around for over 6 years now and counting, to just wait for the timeshare company to decide when they will foreclose or, realistically do whatever they want whenever they want to do it, have my credit ruined, to potently have racked up a mountain of debt, lied to, be threatened, disrespected, and treated like dirt by people/The Newton Group who swore how important I was to them when they were taking my money.

We work hard to ensure transparency and provide our clients with accurate information to make informed decisions.
Our clients receive options to exit and have the benefit of reviewing these options with a lawyer that personally represents them - a lawyer paid for by Newton Group.  Any lawyer that individually represents any of our clients (like Ms ** has a legal duty to help them do what is in their best interest.  However, no one can force a decision on our clients.  Ms * made it clear she did not want her credit damaged.  She was then presented with an option that would ensure her credit would not be damaged.  Ms * did not like that option and then asked for a refund claiming she was unaware of our service offering and felt it was unfair

we scheduled her after the cancellation period was up.  We would like to emphasize that we followed the steps outlined in our agreement Ms * signed on 11-04-22. Our team conducted the welcome call on 11-07-22 and scheduled the panel call for Dec 12th, 2022, as per the agreed-upon timeline. Additionally, we held an advocacy call on 12-22-22 and Ms * agreed to engage with our partner law firm.

We acknowledge that Ms. * called on January 03, 2023, expressing dissatisfaction and requesting a refund. However, Ms * had already benefited from our services - engaging with personal legal representation from our partner law and benefiting from her lawyers contract review and subsequent recommendation.  Asking for a refund because Ms * does not like her legal options is not something we will accommodate.
Ms * signed her agreement on 11-04-22.  She expressed dissatisfaction and wanted a refund over a year later on 1-03-23.

We are happy to continue to work with Ms * to find other options she may find suitable but we will not be issuing a refund for obvious reasons.

I am rejecting this response because:

This response is completely unacceptable and shameful.

First, it looks like they have responded to the wrong client.

As they keep using her and she and I am a man, a him or he.

Also, I signed up in November of 2017 over 6 years ago, not 2022.

More proof of their lack of respect, and attention to detail wen it comes to the care of their customers.

Furthermore, the attorneys they hired have already admitted that they are at the mercy of the time share and that next no work was done to exit me in 6 years as explained in detail, in the complaint.

They promised a safe, legal, and timely exit and after 6 years have still failed to deliver.

This uncaring, wrong, and incompetent response to what appears to be the wrong customer only serves to highlight and legitimize the things that are in my complaint.

      Sincerely,

      *********************************

We were contacted by the Newton group to cancel our timeshare with Holiday ****************** They told us they could cancel it without ruining our credit. We had to pay $5000 to get them to cancel it. They gave our case over to a lawyer group- DC Capital. They told us we had to pay the past due maintenance fees plus pay off the Timeshare before they could do anything for us. After paying those off, we would then have to pay another $1200 to transfer it out of our name. We were lied to by Newton Group. They had told us they could cancel our timeshare without having to pay it off or pay off the maintenance fees. And when they had the lawyer contact us they said that was not possible. If we had been told this up front we would not have signed on with them. We didn't speak to anyone with their lawyer office until past their deadline to cancel with them. Newton Group scheduled it after the deadline. I feel like we should have been given all of this information up front. Why pay an extra $5000 on top of what we already owe? It's nothing but a scam. Just like the timeshare itself.
