NOT SURE OF THE DATE We hired Newton Group to escape a timeshare from ***** in ******. This was a company that didn't stand behind its word. They hired an attorney group, Capital. The attorney was rude and pushy. I left Contact with the ***** resort and had to fight myself. I asked if she could help us escape the credit card debt. That was a NO, so everything I was helping with, I was given. I requested a full refund and was told it had to be the owners would let me know. I am still waiting. For the answer, either they will help me fight Wyndham Resort or get me a full refund, of what Newton group told me.This is the reason for my complaint.

We employed The Newton Group about four years ago to help us exit to timeshare properties. They instructed us to quit paying maintenance fees on these timeshares. They now offer an exit program in which we must bring all maintenance fees up-to-date. We originally agreed to the exit program but are finding that the maintenance fees are much more than expected. We paid to exit one of the two timeshares. We now reject their offer to, turn the timeshare over to them for an exorbitant fee. We want The Newton Group to continue with the earlier agreement (that was bought and paid for) to get us out of the other timeshare. Its now been four years without progress.

After many attempts via phone and email the client still needs to provide documentation to proceed through the timeshare cancellation option of his choosing. Until the client provides the necessary documentation the process of his timeshare cancellation is at a standstill. Newton Group has and will continue to honor its commitment to the client.

After another timeshare exit company closed and left in the middle of the night,I contacted Newton Group, who told me they could help me and to be assured the fradulant timeshare would be ended. I gave Newton group in excess of $5200.00 ,only thing they have done for that money is transfer my case to ************** ,who has not done anything but string me along! This company is a scam! Do not use!

      Business response

      11/02/2023

The client has not decided on any of the options presented by their assigned attorney. Therefore the process of ending the client's ownership is in a hiatus.
************** and Newton Group have fulfilled their obligations to the client and will continue to do so.

On/about January 26,23 we signed for a Newton Group webinar. We were contacted by a gentleman to discuss and answer questions. January 28, he called back to get information & set up payments. If we paid all we got a discount vs full amount if we did payments. So, a payment of ******** was made. (From 12/22/22-02/07/23 we had made numerous contacts trying to get out of the timeshare-contract even timeshare) We were advised to request a charge back to our credit card due to Newton not able to get us out of the timeshare. Still seeking to get out of the timeshare. We were trying to gather the information Newton group requested. With work hours this was not easy. Had to meet with the notary at 8pm to even get that signed. I faxed all the information then got a message that we needed to get records back, I called Newton and they had not gotten it, she said it had to be sent certified, yes Im human and totally forgot it had to be the originals. I mailed those 2/28. Still waiting for appt with attorney on 3/10. On 3/9 we were given the offer to be released from our timeshare from the timeshare co themselves. So, immediately we sent a cancellation of the *** to Newton( certified letter mailed 3/11/23) We did not offer explanation due to holding our breath until we actually received the final cancellation. Due to the Newton group not doing any of the work to get us out we feel the money should have been refunded to us. We got a call from ***** and she offered back ****** of the ******** because we breached our contract.I asked what she was talking about, she said they never received the proper ownership papers, WE DO NOT HAVE THEM!! Im sorry were human and I honestly struggled to get the letter notarized & totally forgot it had to be the originals. We have full time jobs & lives. We could not put on hold.We did expect to have to give up some of our money but not be completely robbed. I guess we were told correctly the company is a fraud. VERY DISAPPOINTED CUSTOMERS.

After numerous attempts to resolve the client's grievances - the client ultimately breached their contract with Newton Group. Currently, Newton Group is divested in continuing the previous obligation between the client and Newton Group. The client knowingly signed a release, acknowledging the policies and procedures that would follow.

Hello, back on November 14th 2022, I sent the Newton Group a check for $4,000.00 to help get me out of a timeshare with Club ******. Only after taking my money did they tell me ********* ****** was on their no takebacks list. When I inquired as to the use of these funds, one of their attorneys told me that they were unwilling to give me a refund. She claimed that because they had given me a whopping 2 choices as to how they could get me out of my timeshare that I was inelligible for a refund. What they did tell me after the fact was that i could spend an additional $2,500 in fees to then get out of the timeshare after they had previously said they were unable to get me out of the timeshare. After all of this headache, I would just like to get a refund and be done with them but they have been unwilling to negotiate.

Entered agreement with Newton Group (NG) March 24, 2022, under a strict and communicated agreement/understanding that we would not default on the existing mortgage/jeopardize credit in good standing to achieve results offered by **. Were told defaulting/stopping payments would not be necessary to negotiate/settle our existing loan due at lower cost. Were told we should save in excess of the costs paid to upfront to NG. Were told a 30-50% reduction of the note due was typically achieved while being able to end future obligations with the Timeshare. Paid fees in full = $8700.00. Now, been asked multiple times to stop payments of the mortgage and/or annual services fees to better facilitate negotiations. Each time we said no - due to work requirements that require remaining in good credit standing at all times. NG could not negotiate a settlement of any kind. NG attorneys told us they could negotiate a settlement other than a full price unless we defaulted and ruined credit. We reached out to NG to end our relationship, instead we were scheduled with attorney and a second attorney who did not identify himself as NG's council. Their only suggestion - take on more debt and/additional debt to pay off debt to timeshare *** with no expectation of an ability to negotiate a lower payoff/settlement. We said no. We asked them to let NG know we wanted to speak to someone and end our relationship - that was around April 28, 2023. No one has contacted us from NG. We sent an email March 21, 2023 to end our relationship and request a refund. There has been no reply as of March 28, 2023.

I have two fully paid time shares at Exploria Resorts in Poconos, **. I am advanced in age and no longer have use for it. I researched and found Newton Group Timeshare Exit located at ******************************************************************************. I used them because they have an impressive booklet and BBB gave them 5 stars. September 2021, they took my case and I paid them *****. Since then, they have shown no results in accomplishing this exit. In July of 2022 they referred my case to their broker Timely Acquisition. I had an agent named ***********************. In September of 2022, I sent her copies of documents she requested. Nov 18, 2022 I emailed her to check on my case and my email was blocked. I tried calling and got nothing. I even called Timelys main number, left a message and still no response. I then returned to the Newton Group. November 28,2022 I emailed them about my situation. I was informed they will process my email in the order it was received. Here it is January 2023 and I have not heard anything from the Newton Group. January 11, 2022 I called ************************* who is the inventory assistant manager, I left a message and still nothing. Are you able to help me and tell me what else can be done for my situation. Thank you.

This company is nothing but a scam that takes every effort to sound legitimate and that they can help. They claimed to be able to get ** out from our timeshares with **************** Vacations - for a cost of $11,000 which needed to be paid up front. We couldnt afford timeshare payments and were needing a way out so we borrowed money to be able to hire Newton Group. Newton has done nothing to get us out from the timeshares and then hired their internal law firm DC Law - which is full of alleged attorneys who do nothing either, except send an occasional letter to the timeshare. I received a call from 3 different states attorney general who all advised this is a scam and Newton can not do anything, nor can DC Law do anything to get anyone out from a timeshare. The only acceptable resolution in this matter is a full refund so we can pay back our family we borrowed from to get this done along with no further contact from Newton or DC Law and any of its agents. Its sad they continue to scam consumers, as when you try to contact them you either dont get a response or a canned response that they are working on it and could take up to two years. Our $11,000 needs to be refunded immediately.

Moving forward, customer ************** chose to work with our partner law firm. I am rejecting this response because:

****** attorney general has advised company is a fraud and they have already proven to be such.  Their law firm barely returns calls and extremely unprofessional- definitely doesnt have consumer/client interests at heart. **** told multiple times dont contact us we will contact you when we know something.  Holiday ******** Vacations also states they have not been contacted by DC Law.  Dishonest from the beginning as it appears they are content to just take peoples money and act like they are doing things to resolve the issues.

Newtons exit option was to pay the balances in full- what kind of joke is that? Its a shame these companies are permitted to continue operations

I was impressed by Newton Group's better business rating and the presentation they gave. I had 2 timeshares and paid almost $7,000 to the Newton Group. This was back in September of 2020. The first timeshare transfer happened fairly well. The second one has become an ongoing debacle. The first person that the transfer company you selected tried to transfer the time share to, did not even have a valid drivers license. The second person they worked with actually had the property transferred to them. That changed quickly when it was transferred back to me because that person owed fees on other properties that they owned. After this happened your company told me that the transfer company was working on it. I was told not to talk with the timeshare company and not to pay any more fees. I have call the Newton group repeatedly for two years now and The Newton Group tells me every time the same thing "THAT THEY ARE WAITING ON A RESPONSE FROM THE TRANSFER COMPANY" I have also been told they will call me with the statis and no calls are received. I had asked for the lawyer they say is available to represent me to get involved at the suggestion of one of there representatives, and was surprised that this request was just forgotten. Now I am behind on condo fees for 2 years. I am concerned about this effecting my credit rating.I feel the Newton Group is not doing anything to complete this transfer and has put me into unneeded debt.I am concerned about my credit rating being effected.

The client is in possession of two timeshares, although one of them has been transferred. For the second property and do to unforeseen circumstances, the client was referred to **************, where a personal attorney was retained at no additional expense. Their assigned attorney is currently working to resolve the issue and remains in communication with the client throughout the process.
