On July 13, 2024 I purchased a 2019 ****** Corolla from this location. I filled out all the paper work, gave paystubs, proof of everything necessary, and a $500 down payment. I was contacted about a week later stating the bank wants the car back they cant contact my employer to verify my income. I contacted the bank and was told that they have never requested the vehicle back and they have over two weeks to verify. Another couple days pass and the bank contacts me letting me know they have to verify over email or fax, I provided the email address they needed. The following day I was contacted by the dealership again saying the bank isnt going to fund the vehicle so bring it back immediately. I let them know I couldnt that day but possibly the next (July 24th). The following day I let them know I didnt have a ride home and they would have to either wait or come get the vehicle themselves. I also asked about the details of my down payment being returned since they are taking the vehicle back. I was told they would mail a check within 7 days for my $500. They came an hour later and got the vehicle. I have photos of the vehicle still in the same condition it was in, I have reached out to the dealership multiple times about my down payment with absolutely no response. I want my down payment back as they have the vehicle back and it was resold today.

Unfortunately during funding the customer changed jobs which caused the bank to rescind their conditional approval.

We have provided a refund of the customers down payment.  We do not keep ***** cash on location, so a check had to be sent from our corporate office.

We would still be willing to assist with a vehicle please have the customer reach out if they are still in need.

      Sincerely,

Went into Rightway Automotive ***********************, ** on or around 6/27/2024. I met with salesman ************************* and started my paperwork. I'm 67 yrs, and have disability so needed reliable car to get back and forth to work. I returned on 7/3/2024 to finalized my deal after they said I was approved for my loan for a 2017 ***** Malibu, car was $24,000. I met with another salesman by the name of *********************** because ** was not there. **** had me sign all my forms and took my bank card and debit ******* from my bank. The 4th of July was next day so told him I would return after i came back in town . I did let them all know I had to leave town because my little cousin 17 years old was killed. They called me every day harrassing me when would I be back. I didnt take car because it needed the air fixed which was not working. I returned on July 10th after also paying 560,00 for car insurance. They wanted review and ***************** took picture outside with me. I said Do NOt Post my picture to ******** because I do not want my information on there. I drove my car home and over the week I heard from several people i was on ******** at Rightway even strangers! Anyways get a call from loan company with follow up and congrats and payment dates. Around July 17th, 18th I received calls from ** asking me to come in, I said okay . Then on July 19 *********************** called and said come in I need to sign a paper for secretary of state. I got to dealership and was told my loan was cancelled , then said I needed more pay stubs , then said I committed fraud with pay stub, They took car back and **** said come in with a co-signer. I asked for my down payment , **** said he would give me some then said no bring co-signer. I left walking in hot sun until my ride picked me up. Today 7/22/2024 I called for my refund and was told I not getting my money back because I wasted their time. They were rude and lied to get me back and treated like crap! I want all of my money only had car 8 days! A scam!

This  response and information is totally false! Everyone told lies to me saying my loan was approved and I had the car for 8 days, I gave the car back because *********************** said I could come back with a co-signer, and he did agree at first to return my down payment. How you guy's think you can just take someone money for a a scam you tried to run on me? To continue to use predatory & aggressive measures & trying to threaten vulnerable customers is unacceptable Period! You took my down payment  and it should be returned just like I returned your car after 8 days! I have been under stress and humiliated by the salesmen at Rightway Auto. To be treated and talk to rude and disrespected is unacceptable for a business to do. **** knows he said on 7/22/2024 when I called he was keeping all my money for wasting his time.  I am not taking no for an answer ! I bought a 2017 ***** Silverado 1500 from right way auto sales ****** location back in March 2024, it had a check engine light on. They made note they would use cleaner to put in and clean out the Catalyst converters. They told me they ordered the cleaner and would contact me when it arrived. 2 months went by and never heard from them. I stopped on a week prior to this complaint and they said they didnt have any and would have to order, and would contact me when it came in. 2 days later the truck left me stranded 1 hour away from home. After talking to the dealership they said they are not willing to fix it. I had the truck towed to a mechanics shop. Both catalytic converters were clogged on the truck ( causing the truck not to run) repair shop is charging me $2100 to fix the vehicle. Right way is still telling me there is nothing they can do even though if they wouldve gotten the cleaner when they first said they would it couldve prevented the problem from happening. I am filing the complaint because I have not had the truck 3 months and it has left me stranded for something that couldve been prevented. And trying to get right way auto sales to help with the repair cost. I can provide a receipt for what I paid to have the truck repaired.

We are aware of ****************** vehicle issues and have attempted to reach out today.

************** called the dealership complaining that the vehicle would not start, we had the vehicle towed to a local service facility.  *********** facility replaced the battery and found there was no communication with the vehicles computer.  *********** Facility then advised her to take the vehicle to a ***** dealership saying it should be under factory warranty.  The ***** store diagnosed the vehicle and said the issues were caused by attempting to jump the vehicle with the cables reversed causing shorts.  Due to this negligence the vehicle is not covered under warranty.

We were told by the RiteWay Auto Sales in ********, ** that we needed to take the 2014 ***** Equinox to W&W AutoTech because it was leaking oil and would not run, that was the place required by the warranty. So it was towed there. We were told that there was a timing chain broken and would need fixed, about $2k, parts and labor. Then we were told it wasn't under warranty, and would need a new engine for $6K+. This vehicle has been in the shop for the EXACT SAME PROBLEM, 5 times and they have refused to deliver receipts for work done. They have ONLY changed the oil and said that would fix the problem. After getting $1,058.05 on 5/13/24 for parts, we were told today, 6/7/24, there is now an issue with #3 cylinder. They say that we signed a liability letter, which we have not. We never signed anything. They refuse to fix the problem, even though it has been in the shop multiple times for the same issue. The General Manager and ************** say there is nothing they can do since the car was out of warranty, even though the vehicle has been directed to be repaired 5 times for this exact issue. We technically still owe approx $1,232 for labor that we have not paid, but I'm sure will be required to upon picking up the vehicle.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of why I am rejecting this response appear below:

I have spoken with the Regional Manager from Rightway on several occasions.  He has told me that the company would pay for half of the repairs that we have already done, which at this time would be $2,290half being $1,145.  We have received nothing.  They will not even talk to us.  He said that if we brought the vehicle back, they would give an above value trade in for the vehicle and help us get a new one.  They have offered $500 trade value.  They have said that we have had the vehicle for 2 years and an unknown number of miles since delivery, yet the vehicle has been taken to a mechanic of their requirement each time.  They have even paid the $100 deductible the first timewhich was less than a month after getting the vehicle.  It was taken to that same mechanic for the same issues, by order of Rightway, and that mechanic FLAT REFUSED to provide any paperwork.  It has been documented as well that the vehicle was taken to a different mechanic (W&W AutoTech) 3 additional times for the same issue.

Now, Rightway had us leave the vehicle at their lot while determining the value for trade.  The vehicle is not longer on their lot, we do not have it, and no one will call and let us know what the status of the vehicle is.  Effectively all communication has been cut off.  We don't have our vehicle, we don't have a new vehicle, and we cannot get anyone from Righway to communicate with us.  They had offered to pay half of the repair bills but that has not happened either.  Seems everything they promise is full of lies, and then they just cut off communications with everyone.

      Regards,

No one was instructed to leave a vehicle at our lot. However the customer did leave their vehicle at our location and had their lender come pick it up.  We know this because the lender contacted us for permission to repossess on our property.

At this time there's nothing further we can do.

06/04/2024 *************** was supposed to sell us a ready to drive safe car which was not the case. I paid $1000 cash. As well as traded in my 2007 ***** silverado 1500 lt pick up that they gave me $1250.00 for it. They assured me that the car would be safe for me and my child and leaving the dealership after the test drive and paper work/Bought it the car started making noises on the way home also started losing air in my rear tire. I took my car to Discount tire and they informed me and showed me that all 4 tires needed to be replaced for the tread on them was below the recommended safety limit for driving. When I called them they said there was nothing they could do about that. I just want my money and my truck back without any hassle. I purchased the car from right way in November Christmas Eve. I was driving home from work and my tire popped off. I called my insurance company. They sent my car to caliber collision when they fixed the tire my notice there was something else wrong with the car but my insurance wouldnt cover, so I called the car dealership back where I had a two year warranty with them they took my car and sent it to their mechanic to be fixed. They fix the wheel or something else after they return the car and sent it back two days later. They called their sounds fixing the problem and return my card to me the next day. I returned my car back to them because I was still having problems. It is now May 28 and I have yet to receive my car back every time I call they say theyre working on it And I should hear from them within the next couple of days which I never do and I end up calling them again and they say theyre still waiting on parts. They said theyre waiting on the insurance company to approve something at this point scared to even receive this car back. Not sure what else might be wrong with it my mom got me this car for a early Christmas present and its been nothing but horrible they did give me a loaner car only because my mom said she was calling the bbb but its nothing like your own I really hope you can help I pay my car note and insurance even month for a car Im not driving
