08/10/2023 Overall Expertise August 10, 2023 - Our project was the conversion of a portion of our deck into a three season room. Several estimates of the time to complete the project ranged to no more than two weeks. Scott took six weeks and it would have taken longer had my husband not taken on installing the frame and attaching the insulation on the lower portion of the deck. During the construction phase, his only help was a gentleman friend, who on occasion helps him, but does none of the layout or critical construction. In addition, Scott had his granddaughter, an 11th grader, helping him most days. Not enough experience, in my opinion! Scott also took it upon himself to use our garage to store the building materials, tools, and equipment for the whole six weeks! What an inconvenience for us! A door was purchased, which we decided we did not want, so it was returned, and he received credit for. However, the cost, which was part of the accepted bid, never found its way as a credit into the final billing. My husband's labor insulating the lower portion of the deck, which would have extended the completion time by at least another week, never resulted in any final billing credit, either. Both the door and insulation work were discussed with Scott and he said we would be given a credit. Scott stated that some of the material he used was leftover material from previous jobs that he had done. Wow! Overall, we did get the room completed in his eyes; however, my husband has spent countless hours finishing what we feel should have been done as part of the original contract. The attention to detail was severely lacking along with the absence of a qualified work crew to complete the project. I would NOT hire Scott Harris Builders family owned business for anything!
