My mother (******* Stake) passed away on 5/18/24. She was the beneficiary of a Fixed Life Annuity with 10 Years Guaranteed for ****** Stake, her husband who passed away in 2016. The annuity started on February 1, 2015 and the 10 year guaranteed period would end on January 1, 2025. I have documentation that ***** L. ******* is the contingent beneficiary after ******* Stake and provide Allianz with their document noting the beneficiary information along with the legal documentation of the name change to ***** Stake. There have been 5 phone calls to Allianz (6/3, 6/17, 7/26, 9/16 and 10/7) to try to move forward with the claim and they continue to give me the run around most recently stating the document I provided with the beneficiary information could have been updated since the benefit started. The document I provided was the beneficiary information maintained by ******* Stake and I'm sure would have been replaced in her files if it had been updated for any reason. They are also asking for documentation of the executor of the estate. All of ******* Stake's property is listed under a trust except in the case where there is a named beneficiary (like the annuity with Allianz) so there is no need to open an estate. I tried to explain this but the customer service did not understand and would not let me talk to anyone in claims. It should be easy enough for them to provide documentation if there was a change in beneficiary and not put that burden of proof on the survivors since we provided the documentation we had on file.The amount of the monthly benefit is $259.53 with a total of 8 payments due so it would be more costly to get the attorney involved.
