************** brought in his boat for us to repair a problem with his outboard engine. This problem was causing the engine to not have full power and it was causing the engine to hesitate/cut out. After our certified technician diagnosed the engine not getting enough fuel from a restricted fuel supply hose and primer bulb. The technician reached out to ************** to get his approval for the recommended repairs. Approval was given to our technician and then the repairs were made. ************** paid and picked up the boat and took it to the lake. ************** and his wife both stated the engine ran for an hour without any issues and then the engine started to make an abnormal noise and started to run poorly. After we inspected the engine again it was discovered that the 34 year old engine's built in oiling pump had failed while they were running the engine. When the oiling system failed it caused internal failure. What we tried to explain to ************** is we fix the only issue the engine had when it was in our possession. We cannot fix something that is not broken and we are unable to predict when a part is going to fail when it is currently working. We did not work on the oiling system, we did not even physically work "On the engine". We replaced the fuel supply hose to the engine and the fuel primer bulb. Both of these components are outside of the boat and engine. We understand how frustrating this is. The repairs McCallister Marine made did not have anything to do with the oiling system had failed "VRO PUMP". We suggested that they call around and speak with any other qualified repair center to get their opinion. We can assure the ***** family that McCallister Marine would have taken full responsibility IF this was neglegance on our behalf.
