I had an extremely frustrating and deceptive experience buying a car from Impex Auto Sales. I purchased a vehicle outright and encountered numerous issues, starting with significant delays in receiving the title. To make matters worse, the dealership failed to honor key parts of our 'We Owe' agreement, which severely damaged their credibility. After months of waiting and being given the runaround, I discovered there was a lien on the vehicle at the time of purchase, and the title was never in their possessionmaking the sale of the car unlawful. Despite paying in full and having a bill of sale, I was unable to fully own the vehicle without the title. Ultimately, the car had to go back to the dealership. Impex Auto left me liable in ways I was unaware of throughout the process.Communication throughout the months after the purchase was extremely poor, and I often felt like I was being fed half-truths to keep me from escalating the situation. Even after multiple attempts to resolve these issues, nothing was handled professionally or in a timely manner. I later learned from a few different local auto lawyers that Impex has a reputation for dishonorable business practices that have been ongoing for quite some time.If youre considering buying a car here, I strongly recommend thinking twice. My experience was filled with broken promises, poor communication, and a total lack of accountability. I regret not choosing a more reputable dealership and urge others to avoid Impex Auto Sales at all costs.Impex Auto Sales Response

Very nice during purchase. Not so much when the deal is done. Beware of hidden language in small print! And always ask is there a tracker on your vehicle!Review from Michael T

Purchased a vehicle form Teryl....Since it was an " AS IS " and was going to be shipped to Ct I needed to be sure that all was good. Since it delivery it is not able to be driven...1 week. We are up to $2000 in repairs. Things they said were in working condition are not. My mechanic found mold in the cooling system. Teryl said the car was all checked out and yet the Tension Pulley bearings were so bad the entire belt was wobbling and making so much noise. The lift gate latch was broken so we could not open the hatch. Front brake system has to be completely replaced. AC not working at all....when I was told it did. I was responded back on a moments notice right up until it was delivered....then Crickets. STAY AWAY...they have no honor, no sense of what is rightReview from Alexandra P

I give them 1 star for there new building. Chris B**** was our sales person. We found a car we liked and proceeded in test driving it. Came back and set down to have some numbers done. I suggested that I could be the cosigner since I knew I had a better credit score. I checked several of time with Chris to make sure that we were both on the same page on me being the COSIGNER and he said yes. He comes back and present a bill of sale. Everything was fine until I find myself being the Primary buyer and not the Cosigner as I had requested. I brought it up to his attention and he assured me that I was the cosigner. After I asked for him to verify, he brings someone out to explain to me why they put me as the Primary buyer. I want people to understand that this was done WITHOUT my consent. After we went back and forth on this particular car and seeing how else we can get it without me being on the loan, my boyfriend goes with his dad to the bank directly to get a loan and is approved. My boyfriend then gets a call from Chris saying that it has been flagged as an illegal purchase and Chris sent the paperwork through without us finalizing anything. Tried calling Chris to see why he did that without anything being finalized by us and to see how it is illegal. I asked to speak to a manager and he got upset, said he would have his manager call me and hung up the phone. He then text me to say that they can not talk to me as I am not on the loan, funny as I have been on this process from the beginning. Ms. Jennifer (his manager) then calls me and we speak about the issue. She say that it is illegal and that no matter what, it was going to get flagged and that they did everything they can do to help us. We called the bank and it turns out that the dealership was the one who reported it as an illegal purchase not the bank. Crazy! Cant help but wonder if it was because of our ethnicity! Never the less we will be pleased to take our money somewhere else!Impex Auto Sales Response

While it is never our intent to mislead any of our customers we always strive to yield the best results for all of our customers. However we sometimes fail and must unpack statements like these that were made against us here and on other various platforms. First of all regardless of whether any customer is in first or second position on any auto loan in America it reports to every credit reporting agency or bureau as simply Joint. There isnt and has never been any indicator on all of the credit reporting agencies as to who is first or second. No one gets more or less credit. Always 50/50 regardless of the positioning. So no harm will ever be done strictly from a reporting standpoint but again to a customer we can see how this may upset some. In this particular loan application the only way to yield a favorable result and to not disclose sensitive information online for all to read was for it to be done exactly as our dealership did. Unfortunately there was some miscommunication from employee to employee which we take full credit for that caused this unfortunate situation. And at this time we make it known that this employee is no longer an employee of our company. So there's that. As to any flagging of an illegal purchase that was not done by Impex. That was solely the lenders decision after receiving a second application, not done in our store, that did not follow the details of the first application done in our store. Unfortunately when a loan application done inside any dealership is later reapplied for outside of our dealership that has any deviations from the original application with that same lender it is in fact the lender that flags it. Not the dealer. We do not sale auto loans here. We sale preowned vehicles. Any decision made by our lenders is in fact the lenders decision. Not ours. If we had anything to do with a lenders decision we would have them approve everyone that walks into our store being again, we sale automobiles not loans. Lastly Impex Auto Sales is filled with many different ethnic groups from Middle Eastern, Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, Native American, and on and on. We do not see Race when dealing with any of our thousands of satisfied customers. We only see an opportunity to hopefully sale someone a preowned vehicle that makes them happy in life and provides them with many years of continued use. We do want to take this time to once again apologize for any and all frustrations this may have caused in this complaint. We will learn from it and hope to do better each and every day moving forward.Customer Response

I find your response to be tasteless and less than satisfactory. This response is very similar to what I experienced that day in your dealership, it is dismissive and justifies the unethical actions of your company. Although, it does not matter who is listed as the primary and co signer regarding financial burden, Chris B**** was instructed MULTIPLE times that I would be the cosigner. He took it upon himself to file the paperwork to benefit his needs and then once the error was caught, multiple individuals came to me to JUSTIFY THE UNETHICAL ACTIONS. This is disheartening and I want to inform all customers to stay away from this business. There is no wonder that you all have such terrible reviews, especially after seeing how you respond to this complaint. Also, we verified with the bank, and they informed us that it as IMPEX who filed the loan as illegal. Your business practices are unethical and every person in management has not done anything to ease the situation , only to justify their actions. Feedback should be taken constructively when running a business! All feedback is room to grow, not to get passive aggressive with your customers. Although you may not SEE race, you can most definitely judge a person by their appearance. During our time visiting your lot, we were brushed off multiple times. Once the application came back approved, that’s when we got the attention we deserved as paying customers. All in all, you never know who you encounter and every customer should be treated the same! Thank you for your lack of handling this situation in a professional manner, we found a better deal at a different lot with a company who valued us from the time we came to the lot and left with a new purchase.Review from Daniel J

I bought a 22 Siera Denali that had a rough vibration when stopping. i told the sales person that after return from test driving. The sale person said well your driving a big truck so its not gonna have a smooth stop because it takes more braking to stop. I purchased the vehicle and drove 200 miles to Columbia s.c. and drove a couple of days and the vibration was getting worse. I took the truck to the GMC dealer in Columbia. they took me to the shop and showed me that the rotors needed to be turned and new brake pads. they also showed me that all 4 rotors had corrosion and also parts of the chassis had corrosion. I took the truck back and told them I did not want that truck and I would get another one if the deal was right. I found a truck that cost a little more and ask if I can pay the difference. They told me they would have to buy the truck back from the bank. this is only after 9 days of owning the truck and putting more than 300 miles on which there policy 7 days and max 300 miles which it took me 200 miles to drive home. they gave me less money for truck that I purchase 1st, but we made a deal. I also had purchased a extended warranty that they kept trying to get me to purchase for 2714.00 and I did because I thought about the brakes and thought it may have other problems which turned out to be true. At 1st they told me i would get a check back from ***** ***** bank. After making the deal they told they told me that ***** ***** would send the money to them and they would cut me a check. **** ***** sent the 2714.00 to Impex and they sent me 514.00. They told me that 2200.00 was in the deal for the truck. That is the most crooked dealership i have ever delt with. You can't trust their Car fax. How can you miss bad rotors on a new vehicle with 15000.00 miles on it. They could not have done a carfax. Be careful when buy vehicles from Impex. They are selling at a lower prcice because of cars getting by without a true Carfax and most of them comes from Canada.Review from Rulo M

?? I wish there were a way to give Impex Auto negative stars! After dropping 50k+ on a car, you'd expect at least a tire to be in working order. But no, I got slapped with a faulty one. Their "solution"? Dragging their feet for a torturous month, then audaciously suggesting we split the cost of THEIR mistake. It's a shameless display of unprofessionalism and sheer disregard for customers. A warning to all: dive deep into their shiny facade, and you'll find nothing but empty promises and disappointments. Think twice, no, thrice before dealing with this charlatan establishment! ??Review from Tony A

I bought a Nice used vehicle 9 days ago and have made multiple attempts to get info on the extended warranty i paid good money for, only to here from the salesman that he has relayed the info to the f&i person and assured me i would get said info.. Nothing in that 9 days, i have asked many times for said f&I person to call me, Nothing, I called the warranty company only to here mixed info and i can't find anything online about this warranty company other than complaints that they do not pay for repairs and people get the run around. i suggested a refund for contract and was led to believe i could not cancel it, however, after a conversation on 8/28/2023 warranty company says i can get it canceled. But now i feel it will be a fight of who pays me back, warranty company or dealer,,,I now don't know who to believe, all i have been able to see is a lot of suits filed against this warranty company and i don't want to be a part of that. I just want my money back so i can buy elsewhere to be comfortable. In the beginning, i thought this was a pretty cool company, IMPEX, now i have mixed thoughts with the way i was handled by F&I guys.....No Communication once deal is done! Sales guy was very nice and helpful, but the rest is a show of nerves and distrust...If you can't see online anything about an Extended Warranty RUN!!!Review from David C

Very disappointed in the service I received to purchase a new vehicle. I messaged to a sales representative for 2 weeks on the exact vehicle I wanted. Then drove a 6 hour round trip to be told they don't have what I want .I was then tried to consider the exact opposite of what I wanted. Very disappointed in this businessImpex Auto Sales Response

We strive to provide the best service possible to our customers, and it is clear that we fell short in your case. I purchased a car with extended warranty from this dealership in August 2021. I trade that car for a brand new car in April 2023. I canceled the extended warranty on April 2023. I received a confirmation email from the extended warranty with a note, I will receive the remaining balance ($1120.23) within 8 weeks. This dealership refuse to send me the check, they said, the financial bank need to send the check not the dealership. The bank and the extended warranty company said, the dealership need to send the check. I have had another car with a different dealership, what a trade in for a brand new car, and the dealership send the remaining balance of the extended warranty within 10 days after I canceled that car extended warranty.Impex Auto Sales Response

Impex has since reached an agreement with ***** and have mailed her all funds owed. While no excuse can change what happened we have had some employee turnover that caused this. One employee working on cancellations left our employ and didnt do a great job communicating what was finished and what wasnt. Regardless if was our fault and we do wanna take this opportunity to apologize to ***** for any and all troubles this may have caused.Customer Response

Don't believe those positive Google reviews. Read many of these negative yelp reviews. They are the most honest ones. These salesmen are a bunch of liars. Don't ever buy a car from this dishonest company. I made the mistake & bought one for $20000 cash & had to put another $5000.00 & sent the owner Bilal H**** the invoice, just to make the vehicle safe to drive. These liars said the car was inspected but it wasn't. The service department are bunch of liars. Don't make the same mistake like I did. Stay away from this lying dishonest company. Don't believe those positive Google reviews. Read many of these negative yelp reviews & BBB complaints. They are the most honest ones. The only honest employee here is Finance Manager Steve W***. The owner Bilal H**** never responded to any of our inquiries!! He just didn't care. He's an absolute disgrace. I repeat don't make the same mistake I did. DON"T EVER BUY A VEHICLE HERE!!! If you do have it checked out by your own professional mechanic prior to purchasing & not Impex's incompetent lying service dept. I know it's been a year since this complaint but I'm still fuming about all the money I spent & not one of these crooks ever got back to me.Impex Auto Sales Response

Our intention is never to mislead our customers, and we apologize if there was any miscommunication or oversight on our part. If there were others again we apologize and understand things can be misplaced a year after the fact.

I still haven't heard from Impex Auto sales. In addition nobody @ Impex encouraged me to have an inspection on the vehicle. I can see why because the vehicle needed $5000.00 in repairs just to make it safe to drive. I certified mailed you the invoice of the repairs about a year ago & no response from Impex. I have the return receipt that the owner /rep received the repair invoice. You shouldn't be selling vehicles that are not safe to drive no matter the age. So I haven't heard from Impex . Does this mean you're not going to assist us with some reimbursement? Or is your comment above not truthful. I'm waiting to hear from you regarding this matter.Customer Response

When I purchased the vehicle the salesman Raul said the vehicle was checked & everything is fine. Wrong review the invoice we mailed you from Lexus. Your service Dept did nothing to followup on our concerns about the vehicle. Being that the vehicle is 20 years old Impex should have performed a complete check on the vehicle before putting it on the lot.Customer Response

I still haven't heard from Impex auto sales. Doesn't surprise me. In addition If you're looking for some restitution from Impex auto sales make sure you file a complaint with BBB & not a personal review. You will only get restitution by filing a complaint. As you can see Impex auto sales had around 30 complaints in the past year.
