The Cellular Resource is a refurbisher that works through Back Market to refurbish and resell phones. I sold them via Back Market my old iPhone (what Bakc Market refers to as trade ins) for a fixed price determined online based on the state of the phone. After receiving the phone by mail, they reduced the offer price to me by $20 from what they offered online based on the state of the phone. (The reduced price they offered is what Back Market calls a counter offer.) They claimed that the vibration of the phone was weak. That was not one of the conditions for trading in phones via Back Market. However, in reducing the price they paid me, Cellular Resource violated the online terms of conditions of trade ins done through Back Market. According to Back Market's own policies on trade ins:"According to our Quality Charter, refurbishers cant send you a counteroffer based on issues that aren't visible to the naked eye, such as false contact at the charging connector, small black spots on the rear camera, pinkish effect on the screen in some places, or slight bugs with the vibration."Cellular Resource violated the policies of Back Market, which was the middle man, in this transaction and paid a reduced price in violations of the policies for the trade in! Don't trust Cellular Resource they will scam you!!!The Cellular Resource Response

We do sell and purchased devices from Back Market. The customer is specifically referring to their experience with the Back Market trade-in program. We agree to purchase devices, in various conditions, at a pre-determined price. The customer is also informed that, we, the buyer in this situation reserves the right to counter the pre-determined price if the device doesn't meet the conditions of the agreed upon sell. We use a software that tests the functionality of each device and if a component fails then we counter the initial price based on how much it would cost us to repair the failed component. In this case, the ******** was weak or not functioning at the level it should. In order to resale this device, which is the purpose of us participating in this program, we would have to replace the component. When countering, we factor in the. price of the part and the labor required to fix the device.
Once we counter an item, we provide pictures or other related information to explain our counter. The customer then has the opportunity to accept or decline the offer. The customer is not forced to accept the counter. If they decline, we ship the device back in the condition it was received at no additional charge. This customer was not taken advantage of and was not forced to sell their device to us. The customer always has the final decision on is protected from scams, as they are suggesting.Review from Sue C

Sold me a phone that was frozen up, can't be opened by anyone. I was told by two different companies who tried to open the phone, that it was more than likely stolen or reported stolen. They refuse to do anything about it, because it was out of warranty. My fault there for not activating it as soon as I got it, but the phone is still what it is.....worthless.The Cellular Resource Response

We are sad to hear that the customer is having issues with their device, however, the customer wanted to return the device 3 months outside of the warranty period, because they claim that the device was ****** locked before shipment. We were unable to accept a return on the device due to the warranty period having ended, and there being little chance that this wouldn't have been noticed for 4 months after purchase. While we absolutely can sympathize with the customer and would have gladly refunded this purchase in or around the withdrawl warranty time frame it would be an unsustainable business practice to refund customers months after their warranty has expired for issues that are normally detected right away.Review from Michael D

Terrible products. I purchased a refurbished iPhone12 in december for a gift. It was advertised to have a new battery, which is the reason I purchased from this company. They had a 30 day return policy. 3 months later the battery is completely dead and unchargeable. I will now have to have the battery replaced. The company just relied on its 30 day return period and would not replace the battery for me.The Cellular Resource Response

Horrible. Do not waste your money. I bought a red 64gb iPhone 12 mini and I haven't had it six months before it starts giving me all kinds of problems. From randomly calling and texting people, to the camera always shaking and being blurry, to throwing an "unknown part" sign. And absolutely ZERO customer service. Save your money. The Cellular Resource Response

The customer did purchase an iPhone ***************************************** July 2023. The customer reached out to the Back Market customer service and we have been responding and even offered to replace the device because all sales come with a one year warranty. The customer stop replying on December 4th. We are still willing to replace the item, even though defects usually don't start occurring without physical damaged to the device. Please return the device for inspection so that we can resolve this issue.Review from Mike B

Purchased an IPhone from them through Swappa, locked to the Carrier that we use. Got the phone, tried to activate, wouldnt let me. Called the Carrier to get it activated and spent hrs on the phone trying to get it activated. The Carrier said the IPhone e-sim card was locked. Contacted this company through Swappa message system many times that day and they kept insisting that there is nothing wrong with the phone. Returned the phone for a full refund. I asked the company when they got the phone back what the issue was. They said they would let me knowthe funny part is that they said when they got the phone back, they basically took it out of circulation by parting it outThey never gave a reason why it couldnt be activated through our Carrier. So, basically they are blaming the Carrier. When I told them that I was going voice my opinion of them, they used a veiled threat to not say anything. This is a Company not to be trusted whatsoever.Review from paul c

Ordered a phone from them they delivered wrong phone then when I asked to have a refund they told me to ship the phone back to them . But at first they refused to mail me a return label but finally after 3 or for days the sent me one . I reived label 5 days later and returned to.them but now there tell me they never received it although **** shows they did . So now I had to turn them in to my bank for fraud . That was 2 weeks ago still no refund . So don't use this company ..Review from Eric W

They shipped me a defective iPhone, I returned it and then they shipped the same phone back. I gave them 1 more chance and they sent me a 64 gig phone instead of a 128 GIG phone. The box was labeled 128 gig. These guys seem like scammers, buyer beware.
