Warning if you are looking for Prostate Cancer Treatment absolutely stay as far away from any Methodist Hospital or any hospital owned by Methodist - - Council Bluffs Hospital - Fremont Hospital. Methodist Hospital is still using radiation technology that should nave been replaced with fantastic new technology 18 to 20 years ago. When you first visit with a doctor at Methodist and ask what are the different ways to treat prostate cancer - instead of giving you a true answer they only tell about the two ways they have available - removal or radiation. They only tell you about the measly two options they have - removal or radiation. Both have rather horrible side effects. I chose radiation witch requires about 25 consecutive work days of radiation sessions. And 100% of all patients treated will have damage to their blatter and bowl system. Blatter leakage (BAD) and less control of the bowl system for 8 to 12 months and they say 3% will have those side effects for the REST OF THEIR LIFE - just their guess rather more like 8 to 10%. The new technology the CyberKnief {sp} which was available in 2005 only takes 4 or 5 radiation sessions and has no side effects for almost everyone. A few men will have real minor side effects for a few days ..... fever, upset stomach, possibly a few days of minor blatter leakage. Do your research. When the CEO of Methodist Hospital at 84th and Dodge Street was told about this she was TOTALLY SURPRISED - alarming the CEO did not know for years what was going on in one of her medical departments. Her solution as she stated was to do some research on the Proton Treatment. Has almost identical results as CyberKnief but takes more than possible 30 treatment session. So it looks like Methodist will be seriously injuring thousands of more men. If she really cared she would have had someone on her staff order the CyberKieff that same day. The Board of Directors apparently has what is the big deal attitude.
