They gathered documentation and money for applications and screenings despite the fact that there were no available apartments. I have fantastic AppFolio screening results, an excellent credit score, no criminal or other legal problems, and my household monthly income is five times that of the rent, but they did not give me an apartment, and I suspect them of national discrimination as well. I stayed at one address for six years and paid approximately $109,000 for it. I have documentation proving that payments were made. That's a nice performance, and I provided them my former landlord's phone number. But that manager, who was in the unlawful business of registering four separate families in a single unit (it is a violation, my unit factually was not registered in HPD) and combining all of their payments and obligations, lied about me. She has more than 20 violations of the law, some of which are listed on the HPD website. So, my recommendation for those reading this review is to not give out the phone numbers of past landlords; they can destroy your plans, even if you "jump out of your skin" to pay their rent and have no debts to them. Schwalb doesn't even give you a chance to defend yourself. I have proof of payments made, but Schwalb refuses to consider them, thus I suspect them and my previous landlord of national discrimination. There is only one reason for such unfairness.
