I signed up as a vendor with these people for an entire season & went to the first event. After the first event the coordinator reached out to me asking if a few of my items were handmade in New England. I make my own bath & body products but some of the accessories for our products are curated. She said only items handmade in New England could be displayed at the market, but I could put my curated offerings into gift boxes. She said if I wasn’t happy with this suggestion that she was open to other suggestions. Because I have eye-catching displays that are used to display my curated goods, I suggested that I will make a few cards & accessories myself to use on my displays and no longer bring the curated goods. The coordinator of the event began to back-peddle and argued with me about this ad. nauseum. She then kicked me out of the market as a whole. I’ve had to reach out to other coordinators to figure this out. You can’t just kick someone out after making a commitment. It didn’t make any sense what she was saying. I told her I wouldn’t bring anything not handmade by me, and therefore no policies would be broken. My thought- someone asked her to get me to minimize my display. They didn’t like that I was getting a lot of attention from the patrons of the market. This is why they wanted me to shove merchandise into gift boxes and why it wasn’t good enough for me to just make my own so I could use the displays. None of it made any sense. Someone was trying to minimize my display. We will see what happens after all the coordinators meet. But I am planning to sue for wrongful termination of the contract and loss of income if they don’t do the right thing. You can’t do this to people.
