Approximately 4 years ago we purchased an Inverter microwave under model NN=SN686S and within two years noted that it was rusting in each back corner. We contacted manufacturer and warranty company. It was said that condensation was building in corner and we should prop door open for some time after each use, essentially to dry it out.We purchased a second unit, same model based upon its size, power, appearance, and this resolve. That was Feb 2022. Over the past year we have noticed the same rust spots in rear. We also noted some bubbling of paint underneath the moving tray, We then also noted rust on door under plastic window and appears that our health and food could be harmed due to their negligence in design and build materials. We reached out and immediately they offered repair, no that was too costly for them, so they would provide minimal compensation if we buy another. So in effect we would purchase a third unit that likely has same poor build quality and manufacturer will not stand behind its product and design.

Our Product Engineers reviewed the customer's photos and case information and determined the the incident was most likely caused by accumulation of liquid after cooking and not wiped clean per the instruction in the operating manual. The warranty for the product is for 1 year parts and labor and well out of warranty and would not be economical to repair. We offered the customer an Accommodation Sale of 50% refund back for the purchase of a new Panasonic microwave, valid for a comparable Panasonic microwave model, as a gesture of consumer goodwill.

I am rejecting this response because: The damages are below the powder coating surface.  This is not accumulation of water (ie condensation).   This was a surface prep issue in which the metal was not properly prepared for the coating and its adherence.  The warranty does not apply when negligence on the part of the manufacturer.  Unit needs to be replaced at no charge, and as a gesture of our goodwill we will send back unit provided a prepaid label is received so they can actually test and view unit outside of a cell phone pic.

The customer was emailed a pre-paid *** label, along with the cover letter that details the information for shipping, to ship the unit to our HQ for analysis by our Product Engineers in their lab. Once the evaluation is complete, we will follow up back with the customer with their findings and recommendations.

Purchased a 10-pack of Eneloop batteries from Panasonic's Eneloop Store. The batteries are listed as having a warranty, but Panasonic not only makes contacting them exceedingly difficult and obscure, they do not reply to inquiries. I suspect Panasonic is shipping old batteries. The reason for this is that the new batteries I received are not holding a standard charge. In this particular case, the batteries are AA. My other Eneloop AAA seem to function normally. My desire here is to have Panasonic confirm the manufacturing date of these batteries. Eneloops hold the highest reputation for quality and function, but something isn't quite right. If I find that they knowingly sent old batteries, I will proceed from there with this and other complaints.

      Business response

      08/05/2024

      Good Afternoon,

We have spoken with the BBB agent and explained that we do not have an eneloop store for Panasonic.  We have a few ecomm store fronts online through some of our customers like Wal-mart, Best Buy, Amazon and many others.  If a customer has experienced any issue with their product, the process should begin with where the batteries were purchased. We currently do not sell our products direct to consumers.

The product mentioned in the description is also a rechargeable battery and does not have a shelf life. Rechargeable batteries longevity are based on conditions of usage and proper care in regards to charging cycles and whether an official Panasonic charger was used for the batteries.

Each battery does have an embossed production date that is printed on the battery cell.  Panasonic also has listed on all packaging information how to contact support and get help with our products.  We have not received any communication from this customer regarding this situation. ********************** upholds it's commitment to excellence and has never compromised the quality of our items by shipping out substandard products.

Panasonic offers any quality replacement that is subject to inspection and approval within the terms of our quality standard.  This requires the customer to send their purchased product and proof of purchase in to our facilities.

Please request that the customer reach out to our customer service team if further assistance is required at this time.

Thank you and have a great day.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution barely but adequately concludes the matter. However, their representation of the ease involved in contacting customer support is exaggerated. My purchase was through their official Amazon store, as mentioned in my report. More detailed instructions on verifying the fate of production on the battery or packaging would be helpful, as a cursory glance finds no obvious information. However, their response is appreciated.

      Regards,

We purchased a Panasonic WhisperWarm DC 50-80-110 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Fan with LED Light/Night Light and Heater on December 20, 2021. It stopped working and we ordered and received a new motor and circuit board on October 24, 2023. My husband was unable to repair the fan himself so we hired an electrician, Oller Electric, to do the work. We paid Oller Electric $70.00 for the repair. Since the fan was still under a 3 year warranty, on February 26, 2024 I wrote to Panasonic, sending copies of the original order, replacement parts packing list and the $70.00 bill from Oller Electric. I have not received a reply by letter or an email or any correspondence to date.

Defective AAA batteries. The box the batteries came in says "for expiration date see battery", and the batteries have no expiration date. Seems like that would or should be against state and/or federal regulations. Multiple attempts to contact Panasonic 800 number, and message just states that the call center is closed, and does list any hours in which they are actually open and taking calls, which again seems like it should be against state and/or federal regulations. Multiple shady business practices.

      Complaint: 21402294

I am rejecting this response because I received an email from a lead claims specialist from Panasonic on 3/18 requesting photos of the batteries and a copy of the bill of sale.
I responded to this email on 3/22 with photos of the batteries and advised I typically do not keep receipts for batteries. I did not receive any response or acknowledgment from the lead claims specialist in 4 days, so on 3/27 I emailed again asking if a resolution was possible as the BBB only gives me 10 days to respond. I waited another 24 hours (today is 3/28), and I have still not received any response at all to either email. Please see my original complaint. This company's business practices should be looked into.

I purchase a Panasonic microwave inverter, model NN-SN975S from the local ***** club in July 2023, knowing it had an advertised warranty of one year. The microwave failed during the 2023 Christmas Holiday period, I contacted ***'s club and they provided me with a number to Panasonic. I attempted to contact the number and it was for vendors and I was directed to Panasonic's website.I reviewed the website and found they had a map of repair companies on the website by zip code. I input my Zip code and on one company was listed as a repair company for Panasonic in *********** which was roughly 80 miles away. I call the phone number provided and was directed to a recording asking to input work order information number. I decided to wait until the Christmas holidays was over with because a lot of companies in *********** shut down during this period. Once Three Kings holiday was over with I call the number again and was able to speak with the company. They informed me that they had received a letter from Panasonic stating they were no longer allowed to repair Residential microwaves and only are allowed to repair commercial microwave units.I then contacted Panasonic within the chat system provided on the website and they told me they could not help me, I had to go through a ********* Panasonic website. They provided the website link and I attempted to contact them and they originally did not have *********** listed as a country in the drop down window for a sector to speck with.I contacted the North American chat group again and they told me to pick the closest country in the drop down menu, which was ******************. I went back to ************* website and selected ****************** as the country and the representative told me the best he could do was to provide me with a phone number to a business in PR, I called that number and it was listed as out of business.I finally found PR in a repair listing, but no shops are listed and contact info available.
