Very rude. I had an injury that forced me to withdraw from school temporarily and have surgery. My school sent me to collections during my recovery period from surgery when I couldn't work. On top of the 3600 i owed the school, an additional 1000 was added as a fee. I spoke to an employee of conserve who made me feel that if I didn't pay this immediately, he would ruin my credit. I called conserve back and they told me he was new and I arranged a payment plan with them. That man called me again a week later, even more rude, demanding payment. He insisted on having my birthday to continue the call. I let him know several times that I had just made a payment and had a payment in place. He repeatedly talked over me saying " I know, I know" then he said "listen" in a very condescending tone. I hung up. Why are you calling if I arranged a plan? Who the heck talks to be that way?Review from Peter P

Rude, harassing, disrespectful individuals. This is what's wrong with America. No one is listening because everyone is talking. Understand the problem before you attempt to "just do your job", as you all word it. Wrong is wrong. Whether it is a client or the person you are trying to contact. I responded every time, and still they "just do what they're told". Do your homework, because you wouldn't want to be falsely accused, and harassed for something that is not your responsibility.ConServe Response

I have received a collection letter for an IRS debt. 2 things: 1. The IRS does not use a debt collection agency fto collect a debt. 2: In the fireld: "Tax Assessed", the balance I owe is "$0.00", but then for some reason an externl collection agencty is trying to collet interest and penalties on a $0.00 amont of $1600. I also see that they tried to scam someone els. I am in contract with the IRS and BBB to figure out how they even got my company info. SCAMMERSConServe Response

I have settled my debt with the school, regardless of being wrongfully charged, due to still having to pay my student loans. The agreement I made with the Vice President of the school was a pay for delete. I made the payment in full to the school with the written understanding that upon payment the collections would be fully removed from my credit with all credit bureaus. I gave it 3 months before contacting the school, and after another month I was finally informed by the school “I followed up with our collection agency and they informed me that they are not allowed by law to request to remove the item from your credit record. They only thing they can do is to indicate that the debt was paid. I apologize for any misinformation.” I of course had done my research before making the agreement with the school; and know that by law it can be removed, and they are legally obligated to do so especially at the request of the school as a result of the written agreement between the school and myself. I have since contacted an attorney due to the fact that it has now been over a year since my payment and thus this should no longer be affecting my credit.ConServe Response

Dear Ms. *******: ConServe received your Better Business Bureau Customer Review, submitted on April 29, 2023, concerning your account for the Creditor, Indiana River State College. Please accept ConServe’s apologies for your concerns. In that regard, you indicate that you reached a pay for delete agreement with the school. To the extent you may have been misinformed, it would nevertheless be impermissible to request that the account be removed from credit reporting, and ConServe cannot agree to do so. Pursuant to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), as a data furnisher, ConServe is required to accurately report credit information and, in fact, your payment of the account balance occurred after the account entered collections and was already credit reported. Accordingly, upon payment, the trade line was properly requested by ConServe to be updated in order to reflect as paid rather than requested to be removed, and based upon the information provided by the corresponding credit reporting agencies, the account is accurately reflected at this time as a paid collection account. However, if not already so reporting as disputed, ConServe will request an update to your credit report to reflect your dispute of the account. Should you have any questions regarding the foregoing, do not hesitate to contact me at ***** ********, extension 2313 or by email at complaint@conserve-arm.com. Thank you.Review from jay K

Can't post unless you select a star rating - 5 stars..."minus five stars" terrible... "Conserve" sent me a collection letter for $35.54. After calling them 10 times, each time with the same result. A recording says I'll be transferred, then says all attendants are busy, then says they are hanging up. In there letter they have me go to a gov.pay site, with the option to settle by ******, once sent to ******, they do not accept bankcards on file with ******. They have charged me "administrative costs of 32% of the original 26.92 I owed, IN 2 WEEKS!! They do not allow you to pay your debt presumably to accrue exorbitant "administrative costs So far, this company appears to be sketchy and if they are an approved third party vendor of the Treasury Department they need to be reviewed and perhaps investigated.ConServe Response

They called me while working, and I asked why they called after calling them back. They said that they didn't call, and I was calling on their line. I didn't know what they were, and told them to never call again. Upon researching, I'm glad I told them as I never took a loan out nor was I late on taxes.
