My first visit to receive a haircut was great. I was told during my cut I can schedule an appointment with "jisele" or I believe she said I could recommend her at the time of my next cut. Well I called and today September 27, 2024 a rude, unprofessional, incompetent employee had answered and asked me who do I think I am to ask for a barber? That I only pay 3 dollars and I have no choice to choose a barber even though I am being charged for a service and a specialty as well as a skilled trade. Part of us customers wanting a specific and individual person and us exchanging money for said service why as a customer of choice ******************** am I told that I am not allowed to choose the barber I was going to stick with through and into the future. First off why is a school charging haircuts when these barbers are not licensed yet to practice? And for a paid service why am I not able to choose my barber that is unlicensed? My question to you BBB and local city code enforcement why am I paying for a barber who is unlicensed and I am not able to select my barber? Anyways she rude, loud mouthed, and her attitude was disgusting. It made me feel like as if she was jealous of the barber coming up and becoming better than her. Anyways I wish someone would fire her. She does nothing but cause problems and isn't for resolution and is terrible example of teaching anyone about customer service.

    American Barber Institute Inc. Response

**Response to BBB Complaint:**Dear Customer]We sincerely apologize for the experience you had during your recent visit. We always aim to provide a positive and professional atmosphere at our school, and it is disheartening to hear that your expectations were not met.We would like to clarify a few points regarding how our school operates to ensure transparency. As a training facility, our primary mission is to offer students the opportunity to develop their skills under the supervision of licensed instructors. These students are not yet licensed professionals, and the services provided are part of their learning experience. For this reason, clients are not able to choose a specific student barber. Our instructors are responsible for assigning clients to students in order to ensure that services are performed safely and according to skill level, as it is part of the practical training process. When clients visit our school, they are informed of this process through a waiver, which acknowledges that services are being provided by students under supervision. While we strive to offer a high standard of service, it is important to remember that the primary focus is educational, and there are different protocols in place compared to a traditional barbershop. We understand that this may not be what every client expects, but it is vital to maintaining the integrity and safety of the training program. We regret that you felt the staff was unprofessional in how this was communicated to you. **************** is important to us, and we will address this internally to ensure better communication in the future. However, it is also important to recognize that our staff follows these guidelines to ensure the well-being of both our students and clients. We encourage clients seeking a specific barber or personalized service to visit a licensed professional at a traditional barbershop where they can have full control over the choice of barber. We appreciate your feedback and are committed to improving how we communicate with our valued clients. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused and hope this clarifies our procedures.Sincerely, American Barber Institute ****. ****
