I was forced to travel to Athens on short notice to help my octogenarian mother, who was experiencing a health crisis. I reserved a room at the Days Inn by Wyndham Athens through Priceline from June 26-30, 2023. A list of the problems I encountered — no exaggeration — includes: * The first 24 hours without wifi (even though, upon checking in, I specifically asked, and was assured the wifi was working fine). * No hot water the second morning (I was told it wasn't the hotel's fault). * No housekeeping services the last two days (even though I complained after the first) * A broken lamp over the bathroom sink, forcing me to brush my teeth in semi-darkness * A broken clock (even though I asked for a replacement) * A non-functioning main light switch * A broken dresser drawer * A crack in the toilet seat which bit into my thigh every time I sat on it * A persistent message covering 1/6th of the TV screen (that did not disappear) announcing that if I wanted to pay my DirectTV bill I could call this number. * A strong smell of cigarettes in the room I informed the staff of these problems, politely, and each day I accepted their representations that the problems were temporary, and/or would be fixed. Finally, the last night, before checking out, I politely asked for a discount or refund, and was told only that they would offer me a discounted price on my *next* stay. (This offer was repeated in response to my subsequent emailed complaint) The staff was (generally) friendly, I should emphasize, and I don't mean to criticize them personally. Still, beyond a perfunctory offer to give me a discount on my next visit, there seemed to be little acknowledgement of how unusual and disappointing my stay was. I don't know, in all honesty, whether this is something the BBB can help with. Still, if a refund of a substantial part of what I paid is possible, I would appreciate it. This was a profoundly frustrating and disappointing experience. Yours, ***** *******
