Coughlin installed a concrete driveway for us in October 2021. The driveway started falling apart within the first months during and after winter. It has pitted and crumbled. I informed Coughlin of the problem, but they said it was not their fault. Coughlin blamed the chemicals put down on the roads by the city of Marysville during winter as the reason why my drive was deteriorating. This is not true, we had little to no snow that winter and chemicals were applied to the roads maybe one time all season. Clearly not enough to do the damage on my driveway. But they will not accept responsibility.

Mr. ******s driveway was installed 10/27/2020. The batch ticket is attached. We have a standard protocol for pitting issues and excessive wear on all installations: A sample of the concrete in question is removed by Coughlin Concrete (typically a 6”x6” square cut from an area in the installed concrete piece). This piece is sent to a concrete testing lab that will perform a petrographic analysis of the sample. This test will supply information regarding the required specifications of the ready mix as well as potential installation faults. If the analysis shows no issues with the concrete from a structural or material standpoint – the concrete in question will be removed and replaced, with no cost to the customer. If the analysis produces results that show there are issues with the ready-mix concrete provided to the contractor or wear/damage from chemicals (including but not limited to ice melts, salt etc.) the customer will be given a copy of the analysis to be presented to the ready-mix supplier for resolution. The initial cost of the petrograph analysis is assumed by Coughlin Concrete until the results are presented. If, at that time, the analysis shows issues in the concrete provided by the ready-mix company or chemical applications, the customer is responsible for payment of the test in full to Coughlin Concrete and will be issued a standard invoice. They will be provided with the entire analysis paperwork and contact information for the representative responsible for the supplied concrete. A standard petrographic analysis cost +/- $1700. Coughlin Concrete will gladly pull the sample and set up the analysis. An email sent to: ************************* will start the process. However, due to Mr. *****’s payment history from the original driveway installation and non-approved or communicated “payment plan” (see attached email conversation) the cost of the analysis will be billed directly to Mr. ***** from the concrete testing lab and will be collected before any analysis is performed. If the analysis shows installation error from Coughlin Concrete, Mr. ***** will be reimbursed for the full cost of the analysis and the driveway will be replaced. If the results show issues in the concrete provided by the ready-mix company or chemical applications, Mr. ***** will be provided with the contact information for the representative responsible for the fault.
