If I could leave a 0 I would. This bank is absolutely the worst bank I have ever used! They have let 2 fraudulent charges hit my account from 2 different states IN THE SAME DAY then charged me 2 overdraft fees because of it and had to wait over a week for my money back. Every week it's a different issue and when talking to an agent you constantly get excuses. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!

My family has been left hungry or stranded (out of gas trying to fill up) multiple times from 5/3 taking unauthorized payments when my account is currently paid and customer service leaves me with "you'll get the payment (from our screw up) back in your account in about 3 weeks." Horrible service and illegal withdrawls.

Ive been with this Fifth Third for about a decade but things have gotten worse and worse over the last few years. Firstly, they have terrible customer service! On top of that, they continually try to charge me a fee to cash a check!! Ill be moving my

Incredibly challenging dealing with their auto loan department. Slow processes, long call wait times and unhelpful service. There is also no way to monitor the progress of requests virtually so you have to call to check in each time with 30+ minute wait times. I never had issues like this with any other lenders.

Not a customer of 53rd, but had the following experience trying to report a scam. Emailed the bank CEO and 53rd security. The CEOs email blocked my note. Make your own opinion: I am writing you to share my recent experience with the 5/3rd phone number to report Fraud and the knowledge/demeanor of the reps taking those calls. On Oct 7th I got a call from a Personal Banker in NC trying to confirm my account. I have no established relationship with 5/3rd. So I found the report Fraud number online and called. Rep was not helpful or concerned. Had to escalate to a manager who confirmed the # was legitimate as was the caller name- she said likely a bad number on the account. She searched to make sure my name was not in your system. I thought we were done at this point. Today, 10/19- I got another call from the same number trying to confirm my debit card for my new online account. I called back as was advised a good number and contact name on the previous attempt to report it. The person answered stated it was 5/3rd. When I questioned how he got my number he said he was just making his morning calls. He would not confirm WHO he was trying to reach. The line he was on sounded odd, so I disconnected and called to report it again. Same reception/concern from the associate who advised me “not to answer the calls”- LOL. Thanks. She did say we have an email or something for reports. Got disconnected and called back. Finally got a manager on line and she took the number that called me and said was NOT a 5/3rd number and call was likely a scam. During all this the original number called me 2 more times. I realize that you cannot control scammers, but I would expect a bank as large as yours to instill empathy in your employees. They may be used to Fraud situations, but the caller may not be. Suggested a link or page to report this type of incident and steps to protect yourself? Happy we bank elsewhere.

Had a previous vehicle financed through this bank. When I traded that vehicle in, the dealership sent a check for the payoff amount. 30 days later, Fifth Third says it has not received the check. The dealership then sent the cashed check to the bank. Mind you, the bank made me personally be on the phone this entire time. Has not been resolved yet. The bank says they will get back with a resolution within 3 business days. I’ve traded in several vehicles over the years and I have never had an experience like this. I was not the most pleasant on the phone, but the representative was equally as unpleasant

If I could give them zero stars I would. I got an auto loan through them and refinanced with my credit union. They paid off the loan but didn't send enough money to satisfy the interest. Instead of reaching out to me to advise there is still a small balance so that I could pay it off, they continued to accrue interest. I never received a statement or documentation. When I called they said at the time of my loan "they weren't generating statements". How am I supposed to know there is a balance if you don't send me a statement. I didn't opt for paperless statements (I checked) and I was told they could send me a copy of the one that generated on the first of the month in question. Umm, huh?? If statements aren't generated then how an you provide me a copy? The representative avoided answering my questions and used the verbiage she was provided to avoid a dispute. I did request a supervisor and was provided the same merry-go-round ride from the supervisor. My advice it to use a credit union when possible and stay away from banks, especially Fifth Third! Credit unions have your interest in mind because you are invested so why wouldn't you choose them instead? You have been warned!

I live in a disaster zone and after hurricane Helene and Milton this bank is letting their customers and their children starve. They have refused all and any method of putting check deposits in the bank while they are still charging overdraft fees and refusing to refund them. I asked to freeze account and stop all incoming and outgoing transactions and they said they were unable to do so just so they can keep stacking the overdraft fees. This bank is running a dirty business and will not work with the customers to help solve issues. Highly recommend AVOIDING this bank at all cost. They are willing to let you and your family die before they work with you.

A teller at the Skokie, Illinois branch neglected to verify that I signed a tax return check that I waited for over a year to receive. They then placed a half a million dollar hold on my account and accused me of fraud and are now subsequently holding my 10,000$ check for up to 45 days they said pending *** verification that the check is cash able. The supervisor in the fraud department said to me that it is in case "the *** didn't mean to send you the money, we wouldn't want you to be liable to repay those funds." What? I have been a loyal account holder for more than 2 years. I think I went negative on accident once and it was repaid immediately. I get regular direct deposits and pay multiple bills from this account. They froze funds that already belong to me. I can't access my paycheck, keep my electricity on, pay my mortgage, or buy my autistic son diapers. I am in disbelief that humans do things like this to other humans. The only mistake made here was they're own employee not performing basic functions of banking- verifying a signature on a check. He deposited a 10,197$ check and gave me 197$ cash back without checking to see if my signature was on the back. Too bad I can't give 0 stars. I can't wait to close my account.

I had been keeping my checking account at 53 with $50 in it, but not being active. They started to charge a fee each month and then when the $50 ran out they closed the account. I did not receive notification of any of this and had no idea until I received an email saying they were sorry to see me go and a survey attached. After signing into my account to figure out what was happening and that I couldn't do anything about it, I went to fill out the survey and if you click the button that 53 closed your account they end the survey so you are unable to leave feedback. Seems like pretty shady feedback survey behavior on top of already bad behavior.
