Was with Cincinnati Bell for decades. Since they change their name they ****. I finally cancelled my service. Now they call constantly. When I say I'm not interested they hang up. I've asked multiple times to stop calling and they just hang up. I'd never do business with them again. Their customer service is abysmal.

Since Cincinnati Bell changed its name to Altaber, we have had plenty of service issues.. Recently, because Altafiber said we needed to upgrade, we need to do so, otherwise, the quality of our service would suffer. This upgrade took place in March of 2024. I had 6 computers hard wired when the upgrade began. When the tech left our house, we had 1 computer hard wired and 1 connected via wi-fi. Because I am partially paralyzed, I was unable to correct the problem myself. When i was able to sit at 1 of my computers, i noticed that a piece of equipment (ERRO) was missing that I purchased from the Kenwood Store, which I paid about $330. I connected the downtown office with no success. Finally, on Sept. 3, 2024, I contacted Property Management and spoke with JoAnn F****** She agree that the equipment should not have been removed from our house, and that our account should be credited. She also said she would contact a supervisor (Bryan) to address my other concerns. The next day I received a call. Bryan understood my concerns and said he would schedule a Tech the upcoming Sat. Two weeks later, I received a letter telling that a Tech came to our house, but no one responded. I Will remind you, (1) I am partially paralyzed and (2) if the Tech had knocked on the door and rang the the doorbell, as stated in the letter, our German Shepherd would have made quite the ruckus. Again, I contacted JoAnn F****** expressing that I would be forced to contact the Cincinnati BBB, if no resolution was forthcoming. Again, i received a call from Bryan. On this call he again agreed to credit our account. This time, my granddaughter, **** ********* overheard the conversation, on speaker. On the 6th Tech visit, all my computers are hard wired. The 6th Tech was here 30 minutes and identified and corrected the issue, that was 3 weeks ago. Our account has still not been credited. I have left two messages for Bryan,,,,,no response. So, I was left with this option.

Horrible speeds, I am paying for 600/600Mbps but have never measured above 10/10, and upload frequently goes below 1Mbps to the point that websites have trouble even loading. Speed test Just before this review, with nothing else running, was 6.90Mbps down and 0.25Mbps up. Service also experiences frequent interruptions where the connection will completely shut down for 30 seconds to a minute, breaking connections to anything that was running like **** or ******* calls. This is not even a wifi issue as my connection is hard wired.

I called Alta Fiber today to see when my contract will end. Some back story- I closed a business back in March and Alta Fiber told me that my contract "auto renewed" for 12 months. They told me that I couldn't cancel it due to this auto renewal and that I would need to continue to pay for services I was not using. They let me know that I could take the service with me ("To where? I closed the office" I asked. They were not able to answer. Fast forward to today. I called to check in to make sure that there wasn't another "AUTO RENEWAL" for a service no one is using, in a building I am still not in. The customer service rep informed me that there is actually a 24 month contract that I am stuck in and that I signed for it. I was heated at this point. I asked if there was anyway I could get out of the contract. She continued to interrupt me to let me know repeatedly that "you signed the contract, you signed the contract". I asked her- despite the contract, is there anyway out of it? I no longer am using that service. No one is. Im not even on the lease. I started talking about the issues of ethics at this point and how can Altafiber expect to keep customers with these ethics? It's bad business! To be honest- we were both heated at this point and I ended the conversation as she continued to interrupt me to remind me time and time again that "you signed the contract". Bottom line- Horrific business practices. I guess I will continue to pay on a service that I am not using for the next year and a half. I cannot believe that this is not an ethical or legal issue. I will never use Alta Fiber again.

Speed - Good Pricing - Good Service - Horrendous I lived in what I call a "suburb to the suburb". A great little town. Lucky to have Altafiber out there actually. However, everytime I "called the number" for anything, I was always had to get in touch with the "local store". I mean ALWAYS. So, when I saw I was moving out of town, I looked to close my account. I went into the local store about Sept 6 (or just before) to close the account. The clerk did his thing on the computer, giving me one more day, since I was moving on Sept. 7 (or just after), a Saturday. No problem. So, I made sure with the clerk, "So, all I need to do is bring my box in tomorrow (Sept. 7), and I am done with Altafiber? I don't owe anything?" He responded, "Yes." I just get a bill from Altafiber on Oct. 12 for another $56 for a month of Internet, a full month of Internet. I could understand a pro-rated bill at most. But, a full-month? I call that local shop. Then they tell me I have to call billing to close the account (why didn't they tell me that before), that they can transfer me. They transferred me to someone who wasn't in billing. That person transferred me to someone in billing. They told me my account was cancelled Sept. 9 (understandable), but I would get still get billed for the entire month of September, for the "billing cycle" ended Oct. 1, I believe. I'm sorry, but I consider this highway robbery. They are charging me at minimum something for 3 weeks that I couldn't even use. The shop told me I didn't owe anything, that I was done with Altafiber. And, I am still getting a bill? Like I stated, I can understand a pro-rated fee, with no late fee. But, I cannot understand charging me for a full month Internet for an account that I looked to sincerely close on Sept 7, that I couldn't even use since I had turned in their modem on Sept 7.

They lied to me about keeping my promotional rate. When I started the service they said that I can call them before the promo ends and they will adjust my rate back to what it is. I thought that Ive chosen a local honest business, and I was so wrong, after 11 months they told me that the promotion they promised me is no longer available. My bill will be going up by 40% with the same service after the promo period. I canceled the service without any hesitation. Im so disgusted by this act of shadiness!!

Altafiber recently added robocall blocker to their landlines. well, it works as well as the federal government. prior to robocall blocker i used the reveal service that required people to press 8 to put the call though, effectively blocking robo calls. that worked great as i never got spam *********, I get 2 to 3 calls a day. not bad, but 200 percent more than before. agent told me that robocall blocks only those numbers with a higher complaint rate. so unless I and everyone else reports the number it will be let through. Agent said the reveal service is no longer available.I wonder what ******** uses.great service Altafiber... bring back Cincinnati Bell

Because my ******** bill went from $247.00 to $283.87 in one month I had to go to alta fiber/Cincinnati Bell to lower my bill they said no problem I could keep my old phone number which I've had for over 30 years this helped me to decide to switch. They installed everything on Sept 6 2024 it is now Sept 12th and I still don't have that number back. After calling numerous times today was the most disheartening, the representative I talked to actually told me I had to go to a neighbor or family member and have them sign something saying I want my number back. I can't repeat exactly what I said , but I did ask for a manager who swears she will take care of this in a couple of hours. We shall see! Also in my endeavor to get this done one associate said I had to pay $12.00 to do this,I never get the same story twice its been a nightmare, the tv is fine the internet connection is fine but the phone change is awful, and the installer really didn't explain how things work he actually said to my friend who lives with us that she'd figure it out and then he was gone. My new price is $172.00 thats great but wow what a price I've had to pay.

Had an appointment to have my internet set up on a certain day. It was getting towards the end of the four hour window, so I called to ask if they were running late. They said they'd already been by, and that there was no answer at the door when they knocked. They said they tried calling me, but there was no answer. I assured them that they hadn't called, it's a cell phone, with the same number they'd called a week ago to schedule the install. Not sure who they called, but it wasn't me... I'd gotten up early (6 am), knowing they could be here by 8:00 am, to move furniture out the way for an easier install. I then sat there for four hours waiting for their arrival. I then assured them them, that whose ever door they knocked on wasn't mine. They asked if I wanted to reschedule... After ghosting me for four hours, the last thing I wanted to do, was reschedule. If they're that incompetent, I really don't want them messing with the wiring in my home... Avoid Altafiber if you're able to. I found another provider that gave same day service. Should have gone there first.
