This is what I have experienced during my PT after only 3 days of therapy: They don't watch their patients very carefully during exercises or during the patient's use of equipment. I may have been hurt because of this. Constantly talking to eachother instead of communicating with their patient directly. Not informing the patient about the purpose of each exercise. PT does not directly work with during most of your secessions. PTAs or other personnel work with you. PT office us very disorganized. Equipment is all over the place making it easy for a patient to get hurt. Patients are informed to use towels instead of straps or balls to do their exercises with outside of office PT. This is not good. A towel can easily be removed from a patient's grip during therapy exercises possibly causing injury to patient. Using a towel may not give the same benefit as a ball or straps. Solution: Pt office could charge a refundable security fee for portable equipment that patient's can use at home such as straps and balls. When the patient has finished therapy, if the equipment is not damaged by patient, patient can get their security fee returned. Another safety issue: Bikes and other equipment is not fitted properely to patients needs or are defective. Staff cannot even place refrigerator cuff on patients properely. Cuff constantly loosens during ice treatment. Finally, no game plan is in place that patient is aware of, as to what the patient should expect from physical therapy.
