Brought my car in to Valentino's for some electrical issues that I was noticing (the instrument panel lights were slowly flickering off and then back on). Concerned over a loose/faulty wire or maybe issue with the grounds. Told me that they couldn't find anything with the electrical but that I had an oil leak. I asked them to keep looking/testing and went ahead and approved the work to be done to address the oil leak. When I picked up my car, I asked to speak with the mechanic who worked on it. He told me that he couldn't find anything, but to bring it back if it starts acting up again. I was perplexed, but had a gig to get to in a couple of hours. Upon leaving Valentino's, I remembered/decided that I needed to go to the bank *********** on 5th and. Broadview) a couple of blocks from Valentino's. As I turn into *****, the instrument panel does the same thing that I was telling them about all along. I have already pulled into *****, so I decided that I will make my deposit and then go straight back to Valentino's. After I make my deposit, I try to start the car. Won't turn over. 2nd time nothing. I try a 3rd time and then the car starts smoking. I immediately called Valentino's/tell them that the car won't start and is smoking. As I am waiting, I notice the smoke is not subsiding and there is a smell. I get out of the car/the mechanics show up and by this time it's clear that the car is on fire! We push it back away from the *** and the building where it goes up in flames!When I went to talk to the Owner, ***** about this afterwards, he said that he didn't want to go through insurance. He offers me a 2008 ***** CRV (******* miles) as a replacement. I tell him I want to think about it. When I go back to check to try the car out, he says that he's changed his mind about giving me the car and tries to offer me a lowball cash offer. I refuse. I am trying to go through his insurance, but am getting the run around. Won't give me insurance info?
