Please note that this involves medical bills for my son that occurred before he turned 18. I am helping my son who turned 18 Feb 17 2020. Since that time he had some medical bills through the Ohio State University. The bills that he was responsible for have been paid. I have communicated with the billing department on multiple occasions. Just in the last couple of months The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has pulled bills from before he turned 18, that were in his parents name, and placed them in his name saying that he is responsible for them now since he is over 18. He is now 20.5 years old. This was just done. In the past several years, myself (his mother) and his father filed bankruptcy twice and made the hospital was made aware of this and they did not file to receive payment. I have sent messages through his MyChart account, with his permission, and informed that there are laws that prevent this. He was not able to sign a legally binding contract before the age of 18, accepting any responsibility for bills. I have read that there is a law that prohibits the bills unpaid by a parent, from being given to a child when they turn 18. Furthermore, they waited 2.5 years to do this. I have sent a couple messages asking for someone that I can speak to at the hospital regarding this matter, or a supervisor. The message state read by staff however in almost 2 weeks nobody is giving me any information on whom I can discuss this with. I believe these bills still fall on the responsibility of a parent. Anything that occurs past age 18 would be his and those have been paid. Supporting documents are in my sons MyChart account. There are messages from the billing department staff telling me he is responsible for bills that occurred before he turned 18.
My son’s name is ******** *********. His date of birth is ***********
