I went to turn on my 2020 Honda HRV after just driving it and found that every status light on the dashboard had lit up. I was assuming the car was having either a computer issue or some sort of electrical issue, seeing as how the car was perfectly fine 10 min prior. I attached a volt meter to my battery while the car was running and found the voltage was measuring far lower than recommended for normal car operation. I towed the car to White Allen Honda and told them I thought there was something wrong with either my alternator or my battery. Not only was I not contacted by the service department with an update (I had to call them), but I was told that gears had completely broken off of my transmission and would need a complete transmission replacement. I asked them if they had checked the alternator function and was assured everything else was working fine. I was quoted $9000 for a complete transmission replacement. I took the car to another mechanic for a second opinion. Not only did this mechanic find my battery had completely died sometime between it arriving at White Allen Honda and there, but they confirmed my battery had a bad cell, and my alternator was not supplying enough voltage for normal function. They replaced the battery and alternator for $1200 and now my car is working perfectly again. Not only did the service department fail to diagnose my car's issue correctly, they lied to me about my alternator working, and tried to charge me for a much more expensive repair (which would not have fixed my car). I will never take another car here for anything again. They tried to scam me by making me pay for the wrong repair, and the upcharge on their suggested repair is preposterous.
