I emailed Premier Dental in Grove City Ohio to confirm they accepted our dental insurance, ***** ******* They emailed back stating they do - in network.
When I called to make an appt for cleaning and exam - confirmed again they are in network. When I arrived for my appt, again confirmed - accepted, in network. When the exam was done, they stated I needed a level 2 scaling vs a regular cleaning, they were not sure I could get the scaling done that day. I asked if they can just do a regular cleaning then as that is what I came in for. They stated as they had already put in the code for scaling with my insurance, they couldn't downgrade to regular cleaning. I asked if my insurance pays for the level 2 scaling and was told ***** does cover 100%, there would be no out of pocket expense for me to pay. They made time to do level 2 scaling that day.
Now I have a bill for $133 as ***** is accepted there, but there are no 'in network providers'. Premier billed $175 for the level 2 scaling. ***** only paid 'up to the average amount allowed' which was $42. I called and explained this to Premier today and the person in billing told me it isn't their fault their system showed 100% coverage and no out of pocket expense to me - and they told me that prior to the procedure - that is what it showed, but after the billing went through they realized ***** only paid $42.
I told them as I was told there would be no out of pocket expenses - why wouldn't they just write off the $133. They said it wasn't their fault their system showed ***** would pay 100% with me having no out of pocket expenses - so I have to pay the $133.
I informed ***** at Premier Dental that it wasn't MY fault THEIR system showed 100% coverage with no out of pocket expenses and it is not right for them to charge me $133 when I was told it was covered 100% with no out of pocket expenses PRIOR to them doing the scaling.
Had I known there would be $133 due by me I would have not done the scaling. ***** was no help
