10/12/22 Wed - called for pricing ONLY on a delivery of heating oil to my son's residence. (Also called 2 other companies after that for pricing). 10/13/22 Thurs - Lykins delivered 200+ gallons to my son's residence & left bill for $1.2k on door 10/13/22 Thurs - called Lykins & spoke with Jarod explaining I did not request or want a delivery & to come back & remove their product 10/17/22 Mon - spoke with Ben @ ****** explaining situation. Ben tried to offer to match competitor price. I declined & requested removal of product again. He said he would call me back after he reviewed the call log. 10/17/22 Mon - Ben called back & offered another lower price of $4.95 gal. I again, declined & explained I did not want the delivery nor did my son (homeowner) want the delivery. He ended the call. As of today, Wed 10/19, they have not removed their product or contacted me with resolution. My concern is they are billing my son for something he did not request himself nor did I request for him. What can I do to get this issue resolved? Copy of bill & call log attached.

      Business response

      11/07/2022

On 11/3 approximately 9am we arrived on site and extracted 173 gallons of fuel oil from the homeowners tank. The tank is now completely empty. In the beginning (10/12) the homeowner stated she had a quarter of a tank of oil ( 68 gallons) and placed an order for a fill. We REACTIVATED her account on her request and then executed a safe delivery the next day 10/13 the tank was full (capacity 275 gallons). From 10/13 to 11/3 the homeowner used almost 100 gallons of oil during a period of mild fall temperatures. If the homeowner doesn’t use heat oil and did not want the delivery as she states several questions need to be answered…….

Why call 3 different oil companies for pricing
Why authorize us to reactivate a closed account
Where did 98 gallons of heat oil go
Will we be compensated for 34 gallons of oil burned ( remember there was 68 gallons in tank before delivery)
The requested reactivated account @ **** ******* *** ** ***** ******** **** has been permanently closed. As far as im concerned the homeowner was 100% served in the proper manner and the issue has been resolved. Thank you for this forum and have a great day.

      Customer response

      11/14/2022

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

In response to the letter with regards to my complaint, I would like to respond to Lykins remarks.

First and foremost, I am not the homeowner or accountholder nor do I reside at the residence.  I explained this on my initially call on 10/12 when I called for pricing. That alone should have prevented the delivery, which I did NOT request anyways.

      Responses to business questions:

      1. Why call 3 different oil companies for pricing?
      a. To get the value for my money — another company quoted me 24 cents cheaper per gallon, so why would I go with the higher price or catl several other companies after Lykins if I requested a delivery?

      2. Why authorize us to reactivate a closed account?
      a. I did request activation. The business representative did that when asked for address.

      3. Where did 98 gallons of heat oil go?
      a. Apparently, they used some during the time it was delivered & the time it was removed.

      4. Will we be compensated for 34 gallons of oil burned?
      a. Paid in full on 11/08

      5. The requested reactivated account has been permanently closed.
      a. Again, they should not reactivate an account that does not belong to me as I stated I was not the homeowner — I gave them my name & told them i would be paying for it if requested. But I did not request nor offer any form of payment.

In conclusion, I am satisfied with the resolution and do not intent to pursue the matter further. However, it is my hope that this prevents other consumers from having to deal with this type of Issue.

      Thank you,

      ****** *******
