In June 2023, a tornado hit the Point Place area in Toledo. We engaged CRD Construction to repair damage to property, including house siding & house / garage roofing. Our primary contact was Travis Turner. On November 17th, the siding materials were delivered. We wrote a check to CRD for $13,600. On November 24th, crews were onsite replacing the house siding. The first thing I noticed during install, was the crew was working independently on each side of the house. There was no starter strip used in the installation of the siding. There was no one from CRD onsite managing/overseeing the installation. On November 27, we e-mailed Travis Turner alerting him that last strip of siding (near the foundation of the house) was manually cut by the workers to try and level the siding to add a J channel to the bottom. We noticed other parts of siding appears slanted and there are issues with facia and outside corners. CRD contends that the house is unlevel and that is why they had to use cut the siding and use a J channel. We have had other contractors out to house to verify their claim, including ***** at ******* ******, and he quickly confirmed that if the CRD contractors had used starter strips in the installation it would have prevented having to rip the last piece of siding, prevented the use of a J Channel, & eliminated the slanted siding. J channel collects water, dirt & ice which diverts to the corners of the house (similar to a gutter) putting extra pressure on the foundation. We found water from the J Channel splashing on the concrete foundation bricks. On Feb 13th, Travis called to say company was having cash flow problems and needed final payment. We agreed to make a final payment less $1,000 and that CRD would be out in the spring to take care of fixing the siding issues & a popped shingle. He later blocked our phone number. We contacted CRD (MJ) on 5/21, 5/28, 6/6, 6/14, 6/27 and even stopped in office on 7/9, they say they will get back to us but never do.
