Anthony ****** collected our deposit in Aug ‘22 and then took several weeks to start the work on our home. He kept saying that his last job was taking longer than he thought, and he ended up starting on our home in late Nov ‘22 instead of early Oct ‘22. He always had some type of excuse about why he wouldn’t be able to start soon. When he finally did, he said that it would only take one week to paint all of our baseboards and trim. He worked for one day and didn’t show up the next day. We were never really sure if he would show up at all since he kept ghosting us. He spent the first week taping off everything and reassured us that that was the hard part and once he finished, painting would only take 2-3 days. This made us nervous since he initially said that the project would only take a week in total. When he started spraying paint in the house, paint dust was everywhere and our house looked like a disaster zone. He over-sprayed in certain areas and got paint on our new laminate floors, but he reassured us that he would clean that up at the end of the project. As we went into week 2 with very little progress and more no shows, I gave him a deadline of Friday of that week to finish the project. We made our home available to him for 14 days but he only showed up for 8 days and left early most days. I found him to be extremely unreliable and unprofessional. After he left, we pulled up all the tape and realized that there was way more damage than we thought. Paint was on the walls, floors, inside of cabinets, and other places where it wasn’t supposed to be. The day after he was done, he demanded that we pay the remaining balance, even though he only completed about 15% of the work. We refused, explained why, and brought the damages to his attention. He still insisted that he had completed the job. We sued him for damages in Lyndhurst and won our case. He has not paint a single penny towards what he owes us. We had to pay someone else to fix most of what he did.
