Cannot recommend this company on their fire restoration services. There has been a large lack of communication with the company in letting us know the time line of this project. We have had to wait weeks to find out our first project manager quit and now as another week passes by we find out there are some discrepancies with the electrician so our home is still not being restored. Seems there is also a lack of communication with contractors as we have been contacted by a contractor asking if the electrician has returned. We are paid in full for work that has yet to be completed and as time drags on and Shambaugh continues to drop the ball we are also out income while they drag their feet. I cant imagine an improvement in this review unless our project starts moving along.Review from Mary C

****** and **** came to clean my carpets to get my house ready for sale. The carpets were several shades lighter when they finished; it was amazing. They took their time and got as many stains out as they could. I couldn't be happier with the work accomplished. Thank you so much! The house will sell better with clean carpets.Review from Sierra H

Not professional. Outright ignores communication attempts of former employees pertaining to paperwork. They will fire you and give you a vague reason but refuse to give you details or elaborate even when you have had no corrective measures, disciplinary issues or reformative actions taken against you.Review from M. DO NOT use this company unless you have thousands of $ above and beyond the limits of your ins. coverage. In March of 2021 my mother and I were involved in a house fire. Shambaugh was only given the personal property portion. We were advised by the owners wife ****, that since both they and our ins. company use the SAME fair market pricing program called *********, there should be nothing to worry about. That was an outright lie. A 3rd party company the ins. company hired to audit and rebuild Shambaughs estimate through *********, found they, line by line, inflated the pricing to an excess of $*********. The insurance company would not pay the inflated pricing and settled with Shambaugh the fair market pricing and submitted payment for that amount. After the settlement, Shambaugh began their campaign of multiple phone calls and emails threatening that if the additional inflated charges were not paid, they would dispose of the personal property. After the construction was finished, Shambaughs was contacted to return the personal property. They refused and demanded to be paid *********. After many calls to the ins. adjuster, Shambaugh was advised that unless there was a supplement submitted for any addition work done on their part, they would not be receiving any more $ based on the original claim. Low and behold, Shambaugh submitted a supplement for additional charges seemingly over night, and the $********* suddenly became $18,659.66. My mother received a certified letter a little more than one week ago from Shambaugh stating if the inflated balance is not paid in full by 2-21-2023, all of her personal contents will be disposed of. This is the type of company that you are dealing with if you choose their services and you are risking either not being put back to pre loss conditions, or extorted for hundreds to even thousands of dollars. Save yourself the heartache and run as far from them as you possibly can! Needless to say, a lawsuit is being pursued.Shambaugh Cleaning & Restoration Response

Response: ID ****** To whom it may concern, Shambaugh Restoration has been in business for 38 years and has grown to be known for not only doing the job that is needed but caring for the client as well. Our clients have floods and fires, and this is never an easy time. This is why Shambaugh does the job a specific way, to protect the client and help them through this difficult time. In this case, the client was not the individual writing the post but his mother. ******************, the person writing the post, is who started out as our contact, however, as he proved to be unreachable and uncommunicative for most of the process, it made the job incredibly challenging. He mentions pricing and ********* and a third-party auditor, none of which he understands. Shambaugh Restoration uses *********; the same as the insurance industry, as a guide. It is not meant to be the standard; and, as in many cases, our labor rates our different as Shambaugh pays a fair wage to its employees. There is no doubt that the insurance industry would rather have us pay less, however, our employees deserve to make what is warranted. Each of our clients would rather have a qualified worker than not. When an insurance company brings in a third-party auditor, they make their money on any reductions they can find. Again, putting Shambaugh as the scapegoat for not paying the fair price for the job at hand. In this case the client had the right coverage, had enough coverage, and agreed for us to the job. It is unfortunate that ****************** could not better manage the matter, at one point not contacting us for months. This is when his sister had to step in and pick up the pieces. By that time there had been many things misplaced including funds sent to them that was meant to pay the bill. Shambaugh made many, many attempts to contact the client, including visiting the home and sending certified mail. Shambaugh has waited almost a year for resolution to this matter, every step of the way wanting to give back the client's items. The bill did go up, as stated in the review, because the storage is charged monthly and there is interest charged on overdue bills. The review mentions another client of Shambaugh Restoration, and if you investigated this case, you would see that the two are cut from the same negative and manipulating cloth. No company should be held hostage for doing its job, doing it well, and for no other reason than someone didnt want to pay the bill, be chastised. Shambaugh Restoration has been growing and servicing clients throughout North Central Ohio for many years and will continue for many years to come. Interesting that the lack of paying one's bill, and the consequences of that action, seem to lead to poor reviews for the company who did not get paid. Shambaugh Cleaning and Restoration; serving OH for 38 years and counting.Customer Response

At no point were we advised by Shambaughs that they inflate pricing more than 31% to cover boosted employee hourly rates. What potential client would agree to that? We were simply told since both they and our insurance company use the same pricing system that there shouldnt be a problem. We find it hard to believe they pay their employees more than 31% higher than the industry norm just because they work harder than others with like general labor positions. When companies reward employees for hard work, it is usually in the form of quarterly or yearly bonuses. I have viewed complaints from their ******** page and ****** reviews from former employees. One employee who states he was being put off from his last paycheck and another stated that the working conditions were poor and disagreed with how they inflate pricing on customers, most of whom never knew of the inflated pricing. This shows Shambaughs projection, stated in their response, of employee appreciation is not forthright. The statement at the end of Shambaughs response claims they did not get paid, however, they were issued 3 payments directly from the insurance company including a check issued on 4-19-2021 in the amount of $663.80, a check issued on 6-3-2021 in the amount of $39,960.09, and a check issued on 3-23-2022 in the amount of $1,875.06 totaling $42,498.95. All of which have cleared to the best of our knowledge. There have been no misplacement of funds as the insurance company dealt with Shambaughs themselves issuing and sending all payments directly to them. We would like Shambaughs to understand that they serve clients who are victims of fire losses as well as storm and water damage losses. In such cases, people have been known to not even survive. We feel blessed we did survive. Yet Shambaughs seems to be implying that the victims of this horrendous event are in turn victimizing them. We are not the first clients who have had this type of issue with Shambaughs, which should lead anyone to conclude there may be a problem on their part.
