Business ProfileforBroadway's Asphalt, Paving, Sealcoating & Tree Service
Additional business information
BBB has been advised that the company, as of June 3, 2020 is working in the area of Greenville County, South Carolina and is operating a Tree Service.
A 91 year old S.C woman doing yard work was approached by Mr. Broadway, who pulled up in a truck and offered to trim her trees. The consumer kept asking Mr. Broadway how much the service would cost, he said $85 per hour, but assured the woman he would charge her right, so the consumer allowed Mr. Broadway on her property to begin the work. Two hours later he left and said he would return the following day to clean up. He never came back. The consumer paid Mr. Broadway $3,500.00.
Mr. Broadway is using a phone number with an Atlanta, Georgia area code. He also is currently operating as Triple A Tree Service.
In the past, this company has operated as a paving company. They claimed to have leftover asphalt and offered to pave driveways and quote one price, but later change the price to a higher amount. Some consumers said that the newly asphalted driveway crumbled weeks later.
Asphalt Driveway Contractors (Tips on Selecting)
The following information was provided by the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) at their web site www.hotmix.org:
You can find a driveway contractor by looking in the yellow pages (typical heading asphalt or paving contractors), by checking with family and friends, or by asking local builders or others in the construction industry for recommendations.
Call two or three contractors for bids so that you have a range of prices to choose from. When the contractors makes a bid, go over the entire job with them so that you both know exactly what is to be done and who will do it. Get these details in writing.
If your driveway is an overlay (the placing of a new surface on an already constructed asphalt or concrete base), the contractor will have to check any bad spots that have developed in the old pavement and their causes before putting down the overlay. It is important that all holes and trouble spots be patched and compacted correctly prior to the overlay.
Other Tips: * Ask contractors for references of any jobs you can check. * See if you can locate the firm in the phone directory. * Check with BBB. * Ask the contractor if the company is a member of an industry trade association such as NAPA. * Make sure the contract spells out such information as which party is responsible for grade establishment, preparation of subgrade, pavement compacted thickness, furnishing of equipment, materials, and labor, final job smoothness tolerances, payment schedule, and job guarantee/warranty. * Get agreement that your yard is to be returned to pre-construction condition.
