My husband was transported to Promedica ****** via ambulance due to diminished cognition, vomiting, diarrhea, slurring and indecipherable speach, and an inability to walk. He is a cancer patient with Parkinsons Disease. They hydrated him and then discharged him. They loaded him into the car. When we got home he could not even walk, couldn't perform basic movements required to get him out of the vehicle, couldn't walk, didn't remember getting assisted up 3 steps and into the house, and didn't know how he got to his chair! THIS is CLEARLY not a man who was "BETTER" and "READY FOR DISCHARGE". I'd love to know what assessment criteria Dr ********* and the nurse on duty based their discharge decisions on because this man was CLEARLY not at his baseline and was in no way well enough to be discharged home to walk, toilet himself, dress himself, or prepare meals on his own. This man spends MANY hours alone at home each day and THIS is CLEARLY not a man capable to do so. Promedica staff did not assess for risk or ask about barriers to accessing his home independently because if they had they would've realized that this man should not have been discharged in THIS condition. If not MEDICAL NEGLECT, it was at the minimum apathetic disregard for this man's health and safety!!!ProMedica Response

Scammers.Promedica writes off accounts to collection by making their statement notice appear like a regular invoice with tiny sized words on back. So when i got this finalnotice after making regular payments, i had no idea they were sending to collections. They get to write it off as a loss for tax breaks which is why i think they trick ppl with their notices. They fail to properly notify patients of the consequences if not pressing the balance in full.ProMedica Response

I feel Promedica do not like those who are low-income, on Medicare Advantage and on Medicaid. I have seen several good red flags go up because you were a smoker, and made me feel stupid. I personally would love to find a caring physician, a woman, to help be my friend and advocate and fully explain every tests results to me. I feel doctors really need to rethink their time and strategy to focus more on their patients and care (bedside manners) for them. They make me feel like I am a bad person and I feel very uncomfortable anymore.Review from Susan L

ABSOLUTELY don't even waste your time and money here. They will ***** you over in anyway possible. I moved and needed referrals and they didn't send any of my medical records over to the doctors they recommended, likely didn't even suggest a trusted doctor. They made me call back and forth, figuring it out myself, and sending all of my information over. Told me if I had questions to make another doc appt! Not to mention I had to see a different doc than my original one for an appt before I left, where this was all discussed. She only knew anything about me from my notes, and not until after the appt did I see when I was tracking down my records that she changed a note in my chart regarding a health issue I have claiming I no longer have this issue, likely because I told her there was a medication I stopped taking, EVEN THOUGH we had a conversation about the health issue still being present. And probably the worst issue I've had is I've applied for financial aid well over 5 times and kept getting declined for "missing proof of income" when I sent them not only all my stubs, resent random ones they claimed they never got, and i also sent w2, they continued to keep on declining it for same reason but there was no way I could prove I provided all the info since it's online application. Talked to a supervisor twice and followed what they said (SAME THINGS I ALREADY DID) and they still declined my application. Mind you, I am completely eligible for assistance. There was a time once before that I got accepted eventually after a year of applying over and over again.Worst business and employees I've ever encountered and it's scary when health issues and huge medical bills are on the line.Review from jim d

I was in to see dr. ****** the urologist in Coldwater Michigan and upon entrance provided them with my medicare and my secondary carrier and everything was fine until billing time came around and of course they did Bill Medicare but they refused to Bill my secondary carrier. I contacted the billing office in Toledo and they did have all the information. Upon speaking with the office manager she instructed me it was my responsibility to pay even though I did have a secondary carrier. I was told it was my responsibility to file the claim with my secondary carrier which as all companies, required medicare's amount of payment required codes and information which I did not have and had not been supplied to me by ProMedica. I finally got them to provide me with some of the information and forwarded it to my secondary carrier who in turn, did pay the the claim. when I acquired the coverage, I was informed that billing had to come from the provider not from the customer. I had to call my secondary and inform them that ProMedica refused to Bill them so they made an exception and they gave me a list of the things that I needed for billing which ProMedica was very slow and hesitant in providing me with that information. They did get there money from my secondary provider but still filed a collection claim with ************ in Wisconsin. if they would have done their job in the first place they would have had their money A long time ago!! I can only assume that there must be some of the laziest people that were ever born working for that organization since they are willing to hassle the patient instead of doing their job and billing the secondary carrier which they had all the correct addresses at the time I went to see the urologist. I will never ever go to a ProMedica facility ever again and would rather drive 100 miles to a non ProMedica facility then to have to deal with a bunch of idiots as has been the situation in this case.ProMedica Response

Promedica is not contracted with Medi-Share sharing plan. We do not bill this type of plan. The patient would be responsible to pay Promedica for the balance after the primary insurance pays. It is then the patient's responsibility to provide their plan the itemized statements, UB or HCFA claim forms, primary EOB to get reimbursed. We will send four statements for outstanding balances. If they remain unpaid 30 days after the final statement, it may be subject to outside collection efforts.Review from SU V

Promedica estimating department can't estimate close to the actual. My second time fighting a bill and the second time around, the estimating department was off by 250%. After 5 months, I'm still trying to talk to the estimating department. Always long holds on the phone, finally talk to someone and they don't follow through with what they said they would do. I don't mind paying the bill, but not when they have inflated it for no reason. If I knew the actual bill would have been this high, I wouldn't have had the test. I budgeted the estimate (even if it was off by a little bit), not the huge bill that came with it.Review from ME C

DO NOT CHOOSE PROMEDICA! After spending 6 months trying to get a billing error (that Promedica admitted to) corrected, I'm near the end of my rope. Watch out for shady billing, inflated surgery and recovery times, as well as surgical supplies billed in ridiculously obsence amounts. A billing quantity error has resulted in Promedica repeatedly harrassing me and calling me on a daily basis to try to collect amounts they had admitted I didn't owe. If this happens to you, request your phone number to be removed from their AutoDial system. Seriously, I know Promedica owns Toledo, but please go out of your way to go to ANYWHERE ELSE!
