On December 10, 2019, the United States Department of Justice announced the indictment of Erie’s New Sara’s Market, owner Kadhim A. Muhsin. According to the Indictment, the court alleges that from in and around January 2015 to in and around December 2018, Muhsin, committed food stamp and WIC fraud by accepting food stamps and WIC checks for cash, store credit, and ineligible items.
According to the Press Release the charges of theft of government property, food stamp fraud and WIC program fraud are punishable up to 20 years in prison, a fine of $750,000, or both.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
