I am filing this complaint against Citizens Bank NA due to their ongoing and unlawful handling of my account, which has persisted despite my numerous attempts to resolve the matter. Over the past several months, I have contacted Citizens Banks Office of the Chairman, and I have uncovered significant misconduct regarding my account.Most notably, I have a recording confirming that Citizens Banks Chief Financial Officer held an unlawful power of attorney over my account until I was able to have it removed. This is an egregious abuse of authority and a violation of my rights as a consumer. The bank has not only failed to remove the charged-off account from my credit report but has also engaged in unethical practices that further demonstrate their disregard for federal regulations.The account in question has been charged off with $1,956 written off and $1,956 still being reported as past due. Citizens Bank has failed to provide me with the legally required Form 1099-C, as mandated by 26 CFR 6050P for forgiven or canceled debt. Despite my efforts to resolve this, they continue to report the account inaccurately, which is a clear violation of both the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and *** regulations.Furthermore, Citizens Bank has shared my personal data without my consent, violating privacy laws under the *********************** They have also made continued attempts to collect on a debt that was unlawfully managed under an unauthorized power of *********** primary goal is to have this account completely removed from all consumer reporting agencies, as its continued presence is both illegal and damaging. I request that the Better Business Bureau investigate Citizens Banks conduct and ensure they are held accountable for their violations of consumer rights and federal law.Business response

my fraud claim was not handled sufficiently. Citizens fraud was not able to tell me who or where my debit card was charged and could only say that because it was my debit card it was my fault. it was pure fraud and they wont do the right thing. I called and went into a branch and worked with a banker for over an hour and still was never given an answer as to where my money or who spent my money. very scary that you can get money taken and the bank doesnt know where it happened and they say it is not fraud Claim number: C-2921448Business response

Citizens bank representative helped me with a zero percent loan, they walked me through the process for paying my car loan off but after processing everything I noticed that my account had been charged extra monies in the exact amount of $222.13 to be exact, I filed complaint with **** and the banks response was that they would give me the amount in question as a courtesy as a customer but it's been weeks and they have not credited the transaction but it was put in writing.Business response

Absolutely worse experience with the Citizens Bank ***************** I deposited the cash throught the *** (********, **) on 10/08 , the *** didn't recognize some of the inserted bills and deposited an amount of $90 less than I actually inserted. I opened the claim and was told it would be resolved within 5 business days. I have never heard anything back from them. Today, 10/16, I used the same *** to deposited $280 to my account. The *** took the money and freezed. Didn't confirm the transaction and didn't give me the receipt. I called the customer service, was put on hold for several time. They didn't give me the information about my previous claim. And told me that it would take 8-12 business days to resolve the claim and additional 10 days to return my money. I lost my money and they do nothing to speed up the process or at least contact me with the updates.Business response

We had a check that was originally written for $10 and change , stolen, washed and cashed for $12,440. After 60 days of investigating , the fraud division of Citizens has informed us that **************, who apparently cashed the check, now needs 60 to 90 days to investigate . This was an obviously altered check, and, we the victim of this fraud are caught between two banks fighting out who is to return our money.Business response

I bought an Apple Watch through ********* using Citizens Pay upgrade plus on 9/22 on 9/23. I return the watch and as of 10/12 I have still not received the refund. When I call the bank to ask why they say I do not know I need to contact Best Buy when I call Best Buy Best Buy says no heres the authorization number showing the return. You need to contact the bank. Ive called him multiple times. Asking for help and the bank just hangs up on me.!Business response

Subject: Complaint Against Citizens Bank for Extended Account Freeze Without Communication Dear Better Business Bureau,I am writing to file a formal complaint against Citizens Bank regarding a nearly two-year-long freeze on my business checking account. The account, under the name "ALL AT **********************," has been frozen due to an ongoing investigation by Citizens Bank. Despite my repeated efforts to obtain answers and resolve this matter, I have received no information or communication from Citizens Bank regarding the status of the investigation.I have been reaching out to Citizens Bank since December 2022, but each attempt to gather information about my account has been met with silence or a lack of assistance. I have provided all required documentation and made numerous efforts to rectify any discrepancies, but Citizens Bank has failed to follow through with releasing my funds or providing clarity on the investigation.Attached, you will find more detailed information and supporting documentation about my situation. I kindly request the BBBs assistance in helping me obtain answers from Citizens Bank and in resolving this matter. On June 30, 2021, Vivint installed ONE (1) video doorbell camera. Citizens Bank shows that I had an account of $3,000.00 I have tried too many times to count to get this straightened out with Citizens Bank (A vivint *** even called Citizens Bank in August 2024 to help me to verify closing the vivint account and that I only received ONE doorbell camera in 2021) The citizens bank ***resentative stated "We show that there is still a balance owed of over $900.00, which should be paid in full to close this account". This has been the response for over 2 years. They have since made a negative ***orting on my credit account--after I was able to remove my automatic payment banking information from their site. I have tried many, many times to get this resolved through Citizens Bank, but to no avail. They cannot continue to basically "steal" from me. I desperately need help.Business response
