They charged a$100 deposit to my credit card account which was supposed to be a "Hold" for "incidentals" which I had none of. I didn't mind this because I have done this before at other hotels. That fee has NEVER had to be been charged to any hotel stay that I have had!!! In addition to that fee a SMOKING fee was also required! I always request a NON-SMOKING room because I don't smoke even though I hesitated to agree to this fee I was ASSURED by the desk clerk that this too would not be added until checkout if it became necessary. Both were immediately charged to my credit cards. I used one card for the room charges and $100 hold and another for the $250. I have yet to receive credit to my accounts for either. They accused me of smoking in the room. There was no one smoking in the room. The only smoke that they could have smelled had to come from outside. My sister smokes in her car and it could have been residue smell on her clothing, but she DID NOT smoke in that room!!! I have not been able to get any resolution to this problem after talking to the owner. $350 in fees total seems excessive for a 2 star motel in a town of this size. We were attending a 100 year centennial celebration and ha a wonderful time and actually a great stay at this motel. The staff except for 1 sour faced woman was exceptionally friendly. The desk clerk was extremely accommodating and also the lady in the breakfast room. I gave an superior review to************* because of the staff and room, but the I had to deal with the owner about the charges to my cards and things went downhill fast. They gave me two receipts, one at checkin and a copy at checkout. Neither had any charges shown except for the room charge which was $395 and correct and is also why I left thinking that I was a satisfied customer and that we had had a wonderful weekend with friends and family. I am a 70+ lady and I don't have $350 dollars to give these scammers!!!! I would appreciate anything that you can do to help.
