Do NOT hire this attorney. This complaint about David Scales is based on my experience in the years 2018-2019. I paid him to file a petition to modify my parent-child relationship suit. It took about a year to even have an actual appointment with someone other than his paralegals. During our first appointment, it was clear he had no idea who we were or what the case was about. At that time, I told him we'd been a client for about a year, he should have been familiar with our case before our meeting. The lack of knowledge and professionalism unfortunately was clearly displayed in court when he showed up AFTER the judge had concluded seeing all the cases in court that morning and had adjourned to his ******** until David Scales decided to ***** us with his presence. When our hearing started the judge asked the first question, "Is this a petition to modify?". David Scales INCORRECTLY stated, "No." I looked at him, then corrected him and told the judge, "yes." David Scales did not answer a single question after that. The judge clearly directed questions to him, after giving him a moment to answer, I ended up having to answer. Luckily the respondent did not bother to appear or respond so this didn't harm the child. The judge had to tell David Scales what needed to be changed in the order for it to be finalized. I asked to see the documents, after they had "made the changes," only to find they did not at all follow the judge's directions. I then made the appropriate changes for them. I let David Scales and his paralegal know my opinion on his lack of professionalism and knowledge and asked for at least a partial refund as he did extremely little for my case, and I essentially was left representing myself. After looking at my court order today, and finding it appears he may still be acting as an attorney, I wanted to warn others of this experience.
