I went in for a root canal and a crown at the ****************************** location. I was there around 2 PM, my appointment was at 2:30. I filled out the paperwork and soon after, I was ushered to where I was supposed to have the procedure done. I have had a number of procedures done in this branch, and they were varyingly satisfactory. The nature of this complaint is two-fold: the doctor ************** and his assistant were distracted and were talking and looking at another person while my mouth was wide open (my lips were bleeding because of the assistant's carelessness). The assistant was also watching TV while preparing me, my mouth open, before the doctor arrived. Unlike all my other visits, this particular assistant did not offer me the television, did not ask me if I wanted the massage chair turned on, and that she was not sensitive (or paying attention) to the patient's needs. The second half of it is, because the assistant and the doctor continuously chatted and were chatting with another person where they had to turn their head away from my mouth while they have instruments inside it, the doctor left a tool or part of an apparatus inside my gums below my tooth. While I signed a document that says I may be held responsible financially if/when things like this happen, it is due to their sheer negligence. I had the inkling that something was irregular when I felt that they were not informing me where we were currently at in the process. The dentists before ************ would tell me the steps of the process as we navigated the procedure; they would tell me that the topical anesthetic was being applied, that they were injecting the anesthesia and it might sting a little bit, that they are already severing the root, etc. This doctor said nothing except "Are you okay?" or "Is there pain?" I could only tap and point at my lips when they started to press on it again due to inattentiveness. Now I have to pay for the endodontist's procedure because of their negligence.

This patient was seen in our office for a RCT, during the treatment a file did break off in the patients tooth. This is a known complication of doing an RCT procedure and is cover in our consents, which were signed by the patient. The patient was referred out to a specialist for further evaluation, and treatment. The patient was refunded the money that he paid towards the treatment as we were not able to complete it.

      Customer response

      03/29/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

      1. They did not address the attentiveness of both the dentist and the assistant when doing the procedure.

      2. There is no mention of the differential treatment I got when I had the operation-- they did not offer me to choose what movie/music/etc I preferred and what would calm me down (as the other Mint dental assistants have done before).

      3. That I had to pay out of pocket for the remedial surgery because the doctor and staff were not paying attention (the incident entirely narrated in my first letter).

      4. And finally, the dentist did not even give me instructions what I could and I could not do (or eat) with that unsuccessful root canal procedure.

It was a traumatic experience, and my body movements and actions will prove it if theyre willing to retrieve any video recording/surveillance footage in the clinic.

Mint dentistry has charged my credit card 2 times for ****** for services I did not receive. I had a teeth cleaning and they charge me $100 and I have insurance and they went back a month later and charge me another ****** dollars and now this month they charge me $100. I told them the 1st time I didn't like the services I will not be back..

      02/13/2023

Patient came in for services, which included a cleaning. The patient did have an out of pocket for the cleaning. The patient signed up for a payment plan which meant that we would draft $100 a month to pay the remaining balance. I have attempted to contact the patient to resolve.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Representative from mint dentistry, did reach out to me to resolve this issue. They have me set up for some kind of smart plan which I do not recall signing up for I have dental insurance my insurance only covered she said $64 because they gave me a deep cleaning which I did not need in total the cleaning came to $600. She assured me she was going to try to get this situation resolved and closed because a cleaning should not have to call $600.
I told the hygienist and Dentist I did not need a deep cleaning, but they wanted to give me a deep cleaning. She also said they had on there that I was getting a root canal. I do not need a root canal. The only thing I went in there was four teeth cleaning.

On December 3 2021 I went in to the ********* Mint Dentistry location to get my teeth cleaned. The remaining balance for the services rendered was ******. I made a 100 dollar deposit and they set me up for the "smile more club" to pay off the remaining balance which was 10 bucks a month. But they never charged me again after the initial deposit. On December 28th 2022 I got a charge on my credit card for 10 bucks from Mint Dentistry. I called them to try to discuss this charge and they said they would get back with me but they never did. After going back to original location they offered a refund of the December 2022 credit card charge which I accepted. They also explained to me that for some reason the credit card wasn't charged all this time. I understand there is a balance remaining but they shouldn't wait a whole year to collect on it, I dont think thats right.

The $10 payment that was taken out from the account has been refunded to the patient. An updated statement has been sent the patient patient as of 1/09/2023.

      Customer response

      03/29/2023

I am rejecting this response because: As I originally stated, even though the original 10 dollar charge was refunded to my account the underlying issue is not resolved. Why did they wait over a year to start charging me again? They shouldn't do that. They should of been charging me monthly since December 2021.

Long story short, I spent $190 for the promise of a teeth cleaning, and a membership, and I left with no cleaning, and a bill for an additional $500. Literally my first negative review. I've never been robbed by such pleasant people. The Dr. and the tech that worked with me were super nice. It's unfortunate things didn't work out differently. Today I called and made an appointment for a CLEANING, when I arrived I was told a cash cleaning would be upwards of $600, but if I joined their discount program. I'd only be out the $140 + the $50 for nitrous. Seeing $190 is definitely less than $600 I signed up. After the X-rays, and pictures, I was told to wait around while they got prepared to my cleaning. When the guy up front came back in stating they're recommending a deep cleaning, and that would be an additional $500. To top it off, they would not be doing even the basic cleaning, and said they couldn't. The "discount plan" is a ruse to get you to sit down, and your payment information. No one in their right mind would agree to these prices up front, and conveniently it's non-refundable. When I called they just repeated that's what they sold me. Neglecting the fact I was sold a cleaning, and hung up on me after I told them I didn't want a discount on more services. People are neglecting to see a dentist due to practices just like this.

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2022/12/01) */ Our Mint Discount Plan is a plan for our uninsured patients. The cost is $140, this covers xrays and exams for a year and allows discounts on cleanings and treatment. The discount plan does not over cleanings. This was explained to this patient a few times. Once the patient comes in for the exam, our doctors will determine what cleaning is best for the patient. In this case the patient was diagnosed with a deep cleaning. The cost under the discount plans is $400, without the discount plan the cleaning cost $1,500. If we were to do a regular cleaning on a patient that needs a deep cleaning would not be up to standard of care, as this could lead to bone loss. Patient are always allowed to refuse a deep cleanings, however we are still unable to preform a regular cleaning. The patient did pay for nitrous however that portion was refunded in the amount of $50, as it was not used. Unfortunately the $140 Discount Plan is not refundable as services were rendered under the discount plan. Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2022/12/07) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) That is simply not true. Your coverage may state that but it was explained to me that that included the cost of that day's cleaning. If that is how your plan breaks down the coverage, that's fine. It's on you to coach your employees how to sell the product.

I went to mint dentistry Monday July 25, 2022 because I was having pain from my crown. The dentist took my crown off and was drilling in my mouth and charge me ****** for a new crown. But my mouth was still bleeding when I left the dentist office. I called back to the dentist on Tuesday July 26, 2022 to let them know that I was in more pain then I was before I came to them. She then sent me to mint dentistry Oak Cliff on Thursday August 4, 2022 to have my tooth extracted. I paid for consultation and extraction ****** and insurance paid also. I had a appointment at Mint dentistry at the South Arlington location for my Invisalign treatment. I waited 2hours before I was called back just to get photos taken of my teeth. The dental assistant had a attitude the whole time and wasn't taking the photos right and kept having to leave in and out of the room. It made me uncomfortable and I let the front desk staff know .I left because I was left in the back for 2more hours to take photos. I have been calling every day to let them know I wanted to cancel my services, the customer service line said that they never Anwser the phone but she can transfer me over I had been leaving messages to cancel the services since 8/10/22 .I get a call 8/26/22 saying I had to pay 700.00 for a lab fee since trays were already made but I have been reaching out since before they were even made. Times are hard right now and I needed to put a pause on things to handle more important things for my family if someone can please assist that would be greatly appreciated.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/08/31) */ Unfortunately the patient did sign an ortho agreement and the lab fee will be charged. The best option we can offer to assist the patient is breaking the lab fee in to payments.

Dear ExecutiveTeam; Our bank account was automatically charged for a discount program that was not authorized. My language is Spanish and I may have been taken advantage of due to my limitations. I do not remember agreeing to a yearly discount program. I was invoiced $140 and I had no balance to cover unauthorized charges. I contacted the office and spoke to Mrs. Brenda H******** which was to generate cancellation and it was not done. My husband contacted the office at 972-893-8730 and left a message to cancel and it was not done. How many other Texans have they done this to and how much money have they stolen from our bank accounts. I would like a full investigation for this business and I would like to get a refund of the money stolen from my account $140. Thank you Texas resident ******* ***** XXX-XXX-XXXX XXX-XXX-XXXX ****** *****

Not impressed. They are a business model for sure. I've gone to my family dentist my entire life. It was a lot more personal. This was such a waste of my time. The dentist was subpar and was just interested in selling stuff. The hygienist didn't do a good job cleaning at all. I can still feel plaque on my teeth and my guns are all bleeding. My gums hardly ever bleed during cleanings. I can literally feel my heart beat in my gums as I write this. They said I have cavities. I am friends with my old dental hygienist who retired. She checked out my teeth and there is no cavity. There are a few teeth I need to watch out for but they don't need fillings. They're just out to make money. I told them my night guard to help with grinding didn't fit anymore. Not a single mention that they could make me one until I got to the checkout desk where they had an estimate for one. They're very unorganized. I would never use them again. And still as I wrote this my gums are in so much pain. That is unacceptable.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/06) */ Patient never expressed any concerns to our staff. We did document the following teeth with Decay # 14,15,18,19,30 . The pt mention she cant see a hole in enamel or doesn't have pain , so she doesn't believe it and only when she has pain she will get anything done on her teeth. We try to avoid patient from having pain and don't wait till the issues is escalated to address it. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/07/07) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I did express these concerns to the front desk lady. And it's pretty funny that mint dentistry decided to ignore all of the other components of my complaint. As I said my old dental hygienist who retired after 30+ years took a look at my teeth and there was no reason to drill into my teeth and put a filling in when there is no cavity. Since writing this review I went to a very well-known and award winning dentist in the Colleyville area who looked at my teeth and found no cavities and no reason to drill into my teeth. He confirmed what my old dental hygienist said that there are a couple teeth I need to watch but they don't need to be prematurely filled. He was shocked to hear how many teeth mint dentistry suggested I have filled. He only saw two teeth that could potentially lead to a cavity. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/07/11) */ If the patient wants to provide documentation from her second opinion. We will be more than happy to review the formal documentation. We will not accept comments made from a friend who is a hygenist. Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2022/07/12) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) This place is a scam. They're like a child when they respond to these complaints focusing on 1 portion of the complaint. As I said, I went to a very successful dentist in Colleyville who said I'm fine. He said he gets a lot of patients from Mint who were unsatisfied for similar reasons.

April 5th I received an email from the Spring Mint Dental company saying my $10 payment could not be processed. I replied that I haven't been a customer of theirs since an estimate of 2018 date and remove me from their advertising list. This made me go look at the card that they had on file. I haven't used that card in years. So many that they closed the account. That's why the payment was denied. I went back as far as possible to see that Mint Dentistry has been charging me $10 all this time. I requested from them a copy of my contract signed back in 2018 because I was told I would have to re-sign yearly if I chose to keep them as my dentist. I never resigned anything. Now I can't get a reply out them. I have sent 5 emails now and nothing still from them. The credit card is closed so I can't ask for a back payment credit to that card but I at least want something in exchange. And I want to see the contract I signed giving them the right to keep charging me for YEARS with no services rendered. This has affected my credit also!

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/05/26) */ The patient did not finish paying her out of pocket cost for treatment. As a courtesy we are waiving the remaining balance of $500.90 remaining. The patient is not due any refund and a screen shot of the uncollected balance has been attached.
